Penn Foster courses credit at TESC
#1
Does anyone know what the ACE approved community corrections CJS250; computers based crimes CJS 255; Crisis Intervention CJS 260; Juveniles and the Legal Process CJS 205, While Collar Crime CJS 225 would be awarded credit as at TESC. Woule these fulfill any of the requirements for Liberal Studies. I know intro to criminal justice is approved under the requirements for 18 hours for Liberal Arts degree. Need three more classes other than Straighterline and then need to find three upper level courses that will fit the requirements for Liberal Arts (courses not exams) for son to graduate.

Any help would be much appreciated. He has completed three courses through straighterline this week.

Someone who has actually transferred those courses would probably be able to give you a better answer, but TESC considers some criminal justice courses as social science and others as applied professional. If your courses are evaluated as social science, then they will go into your liberal studies major. I took a correctional systems and practices course at a community college and it was evaluated as an upper level AOJ (administration of justice) course, but was not considered a social science. However, the course you took at Penn Foster could be more theory than applied which would make it a social science as a TESC advisor would put it. My juvenile justice course was also evaluated as an upper level AOJ course and was counted as a social science. I can't tell you where the other courses would go, but some of them could be evaluated like this.

AOJ 303 - White Collar Crime
SOC 305 - Crisis Intervention
SOC 242 - Juvenile Delinquency (if your juvenile course is not evaluated as AOJ)
