Background: I applied to both TESC and EC for BS EET, TESC got my credits all aligned from military and said I had about 51 credits left, most are gen ed classes while EC said I was over the 10 year limit and basically gave me zero credit. I have appealed the 10 year limit and just waiting to hear back. I have been studying for CLEPS and taking ALEKS until I had to act on a decision.
An important note the Elect. Engineering Tech at EC is ABET accredited but TESC is not.
I would like to have a MS in Systems Engineering or MS in Engineering Management. So I found Old Dominion here in Virginia, and they have both of those programs available with in state tuition at nice low cost of $379 hr.
So now for the wake up call!
I talked to the program director and he definitively said I would not be admitted if I got the non ABET based TESC degree. Even though the TESC academically is just as good as EC ODU's own online BS EET. One shining example was in math, TESC requires upto Calc II, while ODU only req Calc I. Most of the other electronics classes are pretty equal. It's simply based on it not being ABET.
So as a warning to those considering this route, you had better check with the masters program of your choice. Even though TESC is regionally accredited there are still issues. So if you can, go the Excelsior route when possible.
