SLP or Physical Therapy
#1
Does anyone know of any graduate programs that are cheap and either flexible with class times if in person, in NJ or are online (could be synchronous or asynchronous, as long as meets are after 3pm) for Speech Language Pathology or Physical Therapy, my wife is interested in getting into one of those fields and has taken most of the prequiste requirements that we have generally seen for places like Kean, Rutgers and other local schools, it’s just the cost is so high, around 70K plus for either degree in total. If anyone knows of other options I really appreciate the help.

This is a great field to go into. I know in our schools we always, always need Speech Therapsts. I can’t really help with specific schools, but I did find this website that might help https://find.asha.org/ed/#sort=relevancy...0Jersey%5D

Big doubt. I work with SLPs and PTs every day. This isn't some online or night school sort of thing. Its basically a full time job while in school.

PT/SLP school is expensive, you cant get around that.

Your wife will need to make this her full time job. Think about it logically given the nature of the roles.

The University of Akron Online Master of Arts, Speech Language Pathology https://www.uakron.edu/online/degrees/sp...-pathology

General information: https://www.uakron.edu/sslpa/gslpp/dl-sl...m/gen-info
  • "Students are not required to come to campus at any time during the programAll courses are online
  • Clinical placements are arranged in/around the student’s hometown
  • The program begins in January of every year. It is a consecutive 8 semester program (2 years, 8 months).
  • 100% pass rate for graduates on the Praxis national exam"
The SLP program is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences. The standard Ohio tuition for the college is $462.50. There is usually a $320 non resident surcharge per credit hour, but only $1 for non resident students enrolled in an online only program. $463.50 per credit hour.

Tuition: $29,200.50 = $463.50 per credit hour * ~63 credit hours

The program meets the requirements for Licensure in New Jersey. https://www.uakron.edu/oaa/professional-...sclosures/

God Bless you! Thank you for researching available education for these vocations. So very important.

I really looked forward to my Physical Therapy sessions when I was initially recovering from brain surgery. Heart Heart
