Prep for UMPI MAOL

Hello World,

I have applied and gotten into UMPI MAOL (Master of Arts Organizational Leadership) starting on October 27th. I graduated with a Bachelors in History and Political Science (Summa Cum Laude) from UMPI in 2024. I transferred in almost 90 credits of undergrad classes in from Sophia.org.

I plan to use this degree as a backup plan to teaching if I ever want to leave the profession. My backup plan would most likely involve some sort of civil service, city government or non profits. If I continue teaching long term, this masters can take me into admin/coaching within the school system.

Is there any way I can accelerate or make my workload easier before the start date based on my undergrad history (listed below)?

Graduate school is different than your bachelor's degree program. I can't speak for UMPI but I had to do a lot of writing in my programs. Your undergrad classes will not accelerate your graduate program.

In brief, the short answer is, no... You'll have to try and finish in a session if not two. Heartstrings mentioned this pretty much the same way I would have. In addition to that, your undergrad doesn't have the 4 classes that transfer into the MAOL. The only way to have prepared for this was to take the 4 classes that could have transferred in... Yes, my wording was weird, gonna edit my post in a few when I figure it out.

I guess I was still in the sophia, study, etc. mindset of transferring in classes at a cheaper rate and reduce the workload at UMPI while keeping in mind 6 was the total amount allowed to transfer in.

After reviewing the wiki again, am I correct in assuming that transferring credits in doesn't work the same way as undergrad? The classes to 'transfer' have to be classes from UMPI and not any outside organization? So all classes have to taken at UMPI.. Makes sense now. 

Guess you cant "hack" the masters program. Thanks for the replys @bjcheung77 & @Heartstrings

You may transfer no more than 9 credits (3 courses) into the UMPI MAOL. No more than 9 credits can be from a list of four UMPI upper-level undergraduate business courses none of which you’ve taken. No more than 6 credits can be from outside graduate courses that UMPI agrees correspond directly with UMPI MAOL courses. You’re unlikely to find a source of such courses much cheaper than UMPI.
