President Obama Getting Nobel Peace Prize
#11
Gary Wrote:Yes, I will agree w/that. Something has to be done to stimulate the economy and as much as I hate to see debt on top of debt, I know there's people out there craving for a job. The situation got out of control and now extreme measures have to be taken, ones that none of us wants or likes. But for the conservatives on here to have amnesia about the last 8 yrs and now place the blame squarely on the President's back is flat out bull. Can you imagine the world of deep crap we would be in right now if we had McCain/Palin. Well, actually McCain and someone, she would have high-tailed out by now and on to the book tour and lecture circuit. That to me is a very, very, scary thought. Hell, we could be in North Korea by now. We could be all over the globe w/an economy relying on the military to keep us floating while McCain finished reading Greenspan's book.

I don't think blame should be placed squarely on the President. Neither should blame for the last 8 years be placed squarely on the President. The President doesn't make laws. Over half the Senate, both R's and D's, have been aiding and abetting the bubbles and their subsequent bursts, overspending, and waste for more than the last 8+ years. I'd wager that education is one of the next ones to burst.

Not to mention that if you look locally there are plenty of state congresses, governors, mayors, etc. to add to the blame list. Maryland has been spending money it doesn't have for decades. Eventually the whole country is going to need a bailout, and there will be no where to turn.

Conservatives and liberals who simply argue that it is the President's fault for everything just add to the pointless partisan arguments that do nothing but give news shows ratings and make the pundits wealthy...

Forget one term atleast finish one of his many manic ideas.hilarious

Ruddigore Wrote:I wish they could have waited until he had at least completed one term -- until he had done something...other than be himself (which is not adequate in my perspective). The past legislative session has been hardly anything worth mentioning, much less praised. And there's not much President Obama's done outside that except make speeches and promises. (I think -- if he has done something else, fill me in. I haven't been keeping up with the news as well as I have in the past.)

Point is, the award would have been more believable after a couple years. At this point, one wonders if the Nobel Prize people are trying to tell Obama something. I know some people believe that he's being discouraged from taking any further action in Afghanistan, let alone Iraq.

Anyway, it's all very interesting.

Hey, I've given it to all of them. NJ Democrats are about as crooked as they come. I mean, we have an election for governor coming up and the Republican (Christie) could probably assure himself of a win if he gave specifics, and he won't do that. I'm shocked by that to be honest w/you. As for Bush, if WMD were found (no, they weren't, they didn't go underground in mass quantity in the middle of the night, they weren't sneaked out, they wern't...., Enuff of that), I believe he would not be looked at quite so badly. I wouldn't have felt quite that way about him. If Iraq had what the previous administration said they had and we were possible intended targets, heck, he probably would've been looked at as a hero. We know the rest. He listened to that bonehead Cheney and crackpot Rumsfeld. As for healthcare and the socialist scare, what a bunch of bull. Since we have plenty of money to throw around for each election, especially the wealthy, along w/PAC money and money to fight against the Public Option, we have enough $$$ to have a public option. Coverage for all I say. There is sooooooo much money out there for all this graft but try to do the decent thing and help the unfortunate out and there is a huge public outcry. It's as if they (unfortunate) are bringing this country down. More BULLSH%#. It is the wealthy's thumb coming down on those that don't really have a voice. Take all those MBA's and advanced degrees and throw me some numbers, they don't mean crap to me. I know what it is about. It's walkin like a duck, quacking like a duck, therefore it must be a ________! What if this public option turned out to be a good thing, I mean the insurance company is already flippin us off. As for the death squads, there is a mild form right now in this country in case you hadn't noticed. My dad was a tough man who had a bad surgery, I won't go into the details. There were mistakes. He came out not the same. They could never stop the bleeding inside nor were they sure where it was coming from. Finally, they kept after my Mom to sign papers which effectively ended his life. She, and I have guilt to this day. These are the FACTS! Others have experienced the same I am sure. The cost is too great on the system, those of us who are slowly coming into this realm realize what is going on. Obama and his administration aren't creating death panels, they are here now in a different form. And to those of you who are young and just starting out, you should realize the crisis you will face if you don't harp on the wealthy (unless you are wealthy yourself). You don't have pensions to look forward to, no affordable health care, good chance of no SS, a warmer climate, your future is not starting out looking rosy. Heck, you can't even find jobs. You keep hearing about debt (and it is a huge concern) but to do nothing in these times will create even less jobs. You see older people (teachers, police, firemen, gov't employees) living on nice cushy pensions, you won't have that. If the system wasn't so corrupt and greedy, there would be enough for everyone but nobody is giving it up. If you back the wealthy, don't believe for a minute they will create jobs for you and they will really care about you, that is a big mistake. They will give themselves and their friends much greater amounts of money, just look at the past. You've heard it before, don't fall for the misdirection. Rush has a $24 million, 36,500-square-foot oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida. No kids. He is not remotely in tune w/you. Wake up young people, the Obama smear is just an attempt by the wealthy to get back to where they were before, at your expense. If your waiting and hoping they will get you going again, you are sadly mistaken. Now, the other side will come after me. Pay close attention, who really is making more sense? There is an undercurrent of racism toward Obama, the socialist cry is nothing more than many (not all) saying that your hard earned money will be going to pay for welfare and other programs. Here is what is meant by that, I'll tell you, they won't. The poor and lazy, many being minorities, just want to kick back and live off "your" money. They are angering you, creating a baseless base, using you to take back the office that so lavishly graced their lives before. Are there lazy people? Heck yea! But look at the wealthy lifestyle and tell me who really is the lazy basta$#. We work, get results, and they play. Keep up your hope, but I wouldn't fall for that. W/the way things are going, maybe a little socialism in our system is what we need. I mean, take a snapshot, what has the alternative produced? Over and out!

The nobel prize lost all its credibility for me when it was awarded to Yasser Arafat. Seriously!

That was in 1994. You would've been about 5 yrs old. Yeah, I can see why? That could be a traumatic experience.

It was so bad that even a five year old could comprehend!
