All this talk about failing Public Speaking really got to me.
I decided to cancil my upcoming exam.
Since it IS a requirement for my CCAF AAS degree, I also decided to look in to independent study program for it.
By far the Best one I found was offered at Brigham Young University Independent Study Program TMA 150: Public Speaking. $390.00.
http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/descri...20Speaking
There are 9 lessons, 7 submitted, and ZERO exams.
All you need is some cassette tapes and a recorder.
I enrolled 2 days ago, and already, I am starting lesson 4.
I have a feeling that I may even finish this course in a more timely manor than it takes for the DSST to be graded and returned to the examee!
Well, this path is going well for me, I just thought I'd share with everyone else.
Cheers!

Shadowcross, thanks for the link. I will most likely take that path instead of waiting 6 months for a retake.
A couple things I failed to mention regarding my exam. First, the multiple choice portion is simple. I used the audio portion and companion CD's that came with The Art of Public Speaking. Second, when I requested a timer the "new" proctor told me they didn't have any, she would inform me when the time was up. Finally, as the proctor was leaving the room, she slipped and fell. Distracted I continued and pronounced the main topic word incorrectly and never recovered. I should've stopped right there and demanded a retake. Oh well, at least I had a funny story to tell my family and friends, I used the word condominium instead of ..., can you guess?

Now THAT'S funny!
A 3-5 minute speech on whether or not handing out free condominiums to high school students is effective in reducing the number of teenage pregnancies.
My guess is that giving teenagers access to their own private condominiums would actually increase the number of teenage pregnancies.
If nothing else, it would save them the cost of renting a hotel room on prom night.
I'm so sorry Fondue! Such a verbal blunder could happen to any one of us, and watching your exam proctor wipeout just before you start the speech HAD to be a huge distraction for you.
As you say though, it's a funny story to tell your friends and family. A comedy of errors, of sorts!
Here's hoping you passed anyway,

My speech will be posted on the internet titled, "How to Make Absolutely Every Mistake While Giving a Speech". My only hope is that someone in our 51st or 52nd state, where English is a second language, evaluates my speech.
On a side note, the results from my last exam arrived today, I got a 66 on Principles of Statistics.

This has to be the funniest post I've read yet on this forum.
I do sympathize with you; I felt the same way on my first speech. About halfway through, I wanted to just walk out, yet I stumbled on; much to my embarrassment. Six months later I sucked it up, retook it, and passed.
Keep your head up though; you got an outstanding score on a difficult Stat exam. You can be proud of this and continue to press on. If it were easy, everyone would have a degree, though I do know some that make you wonder......

Thanks for the link, if I fail this time I might try that out. I too am missing Speech to get my CCAF.
I've seen a couple of Speech classes online too, and also there is LSU correspondence.
