i wonder if the Software Design and Engineering degree is in addition to their planned CS degree, or if they have changed their CS degree plans and are offering an SDE degree instead

Excellent question! I heard rumors that WGU, who's had an MSCS degree "coming soon" for several years now, has pivoted towards working on a software engineering masters instead. I'm guessing that it's hard to meet requirements for a true MSCS degree and that it may be easier to rework a curriculum into software development/engineering rather than beef it up to computer science. But that's just a guess since I don't actually know much about the field.

They initially indicated they hoped their MSCS (which now could possibly be the MS SDE instead) would be launched "early 2022." I wonder what the new timeline looks like, and if we still might see it before the end of the year.

Oh wow, that's interesting. Someone could finish a BSCS from U of People and ladder into something like this if the price from Quantic proves to be inexpensive or at least more or less as affordable/comparable in price as the U of People Bachelors/Masters.
