Question about General Education Requirements
#1
Can you use a class in your degree plan to fulfill a Ged Ed Requirement? For example in the BSBA Computer Information Degree, International Management is required in the Professional Business Requirement. It could also fulfill the Diversity Requirement for the Civic and Global Leadership section of Ged Ed. My son really does not want to take Intro to Sociology for some reason. Can the International Management Class fulfill Diversity and then he just take an extra elective (he has Advanced Excel in Business at ASU picked out). Thanks.

No, with TESU, each class can only fill one requirement. It can be a gen ed course OR it can be in the AOS. That said, there are other options for meeting the diversity requirement than Sociology: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...ts_Roadmap
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Thank you. He has taken Approaches to Studying Religion at Sophia but from this forum Ive learned that this class doesn't fulfill Diversity anymore. We will try and find something else.

You're right, I'm not sure how I missed that. I removed that course from that section of the wiki. If he's going to be taking a 16-credit term to avoid the residency waiver, he might want to choose GOG-230 one of the courses. That should fulfill the diversity requirement.

Your son could take an UL Int'l Business course and a LL Int'l Business course and then use one in the core and the other in the Diversity area.  For example, Study.com has BUS 120: International Business which comes in as MAN-271 and could be used in the core, and then BUS 308: Globalization and International Management which comes in as MAN-372 and can be used in Diversity.  There's also overlap, meaning after finishing the first course, a portion of the 2nd course will also be completed.

There are other courses/exams you can use there as well (TESU lists a bunch), my daughter took Marriage & the Family at her CC and it would work in Diversity.  TESU has courses and TECEP exams that you can use.
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000
EXAMS: TECEP Tech Wrtg, Comp II, LA Math, PR, Computers  DSST Computers, Pers Fin  CLEP Mgmt, Mktg
COURSES: TESU Capstone  Study.com Pers Fin, Microecon, Stats  Ed4Credit Acct 2  PF Fin Mgmt  ALEKS Int & Coll Alg  Sophia Proj Mgmt The Institutes - Ins Ethics  Kaplan PLA

There are a few things to note, all schools have options to take different classes for specific requirements as long as it matches the specific course fits that category.

1) Many think there is a double dip, it's not really a double dipping as the course may satisfy multiple requirements, you still need to take X courses to complete your degree requirements, that course would only take 1 requirement out of the required 40 courses.

2) Lower and Upper level requirements.  Make sure you hit all the required Upper Level requirements for your school, in the case of TESU, the BSBA requires 15, the BA's require 18 Upper Level.  You can take a lower level course for the core requirement, and an UL for the AOS, use courses with overlapping content if possible.

3) TESU has example options for courses, you can see what courses interest you most.  You don't need to take the Upper Level options they provide you, or courses with the exact course number, as long as the course content is similar and is lower level, it will be accepted.  For AOS, make sure to find the Upper Level ones you need.

I would recommend viewing this General Education Link, it'll provide you examples of possible courses, even "business" courses can be used for general education, such as Communications or Economics: https://www.tesu.edu/academics/courses/j...-and-after
