Which test will satisfy TESC's ETHICS requirement?
#1
I have to select a UExcel test (or Saylor NCCRS course) to fulfill TESC's Personal and Social Responsibility - Responsible Ethical Leadership requirement.

Which of the following would work?

UExcel Business Ethics
UExcel Bioethics: Philosophical Issues
UExcel Ethics: Theory & Practice
Saylor Business Law and Ethics

The UExcel Ethics: Theory & Practice would be my last choice as it is so expensive.

I was grandfathered in the old system, but my wife used DSST Intro to World Religions, CLEP Intro to Sociology, and DSST Ethics in America to fill the 9 credit Ethics and Social Responsibility requirement. I would completely skip the Excelsior exams unless you already tried the above and failed them within the last 6 months.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I wouldn't mind taking a DSST or CLEP. However, there aren't any CLEP or DSST centers in my country. (I'm an international student Smile )

I'm a bit confused, are you a TESC or Excelsior student? You mentioned in a previous post possibly taking a lot of Uexcels/Saylor exams? Are the centers for taking Excelsior exams different in your country than DSST/CLEPs?

Other international students have used Straighterline Business Ethics (transfers as PHI384) to fill that requirement. If a TESC business student, you can then use the Business in Society TECEP exam for the core slot.

I'll be enrolling with TESC, but am taking UExcel tests for credits. Yes, there are many Pearson test centers here which administer the Excelsior exams. But none of the CollegeBoard or Prometric centers offer CLEPs and DSSTs. Some Pearson test centers are also Prometric test centers, but they do not wish to apply for permission to administer the DSST.

I'm doing a BA in Psychology. Would the Business in Society TECEP meet the Ethics requirement under Gen Ed?

It's unfortunate, having an available testing center who does not utilize the other testing formats.

Any who, The TECEP is a business exam, as such I don't think it could be used to fill that requirement. The ethics slot is filled by a philosophy course. I know, it's a bit confusing since the SL course is titled 'Business Ethics' but it transfer as PHI384. Business in Society is coded either BUS311/TECEP or BUS302/DSST. Of course, you could always contact TESC and ask.

The Straighterline course would probably be best for you. It has a reputation for being easy; students can search the ebook while testing (incl during the final). If memory serves, there is another forum member from your neck of the woods who has used Straigherline/proctoru without issue.

Saylor Business Law and Ethics won't work since it's transcribed as just LAW-201 Business Law. I'm pretty sure that Uexcel Business Ethics will have the same equivalency as Straighterline Business Ethics, so it should work. I'm very sure that Uexcel Ethics: Theory and Practice will work. Bioethics might work.

The UExcel would be cheaper though...it's $95 compared to $149 for Straighterline

Is there a way to confirm it with TESC? I'm not yet enrolled, so I'm not sure if they'll want to look into it.
