Hey all,
First off, thank you all for all your advice over the years. Got my Bachelors in 2021 from all your advice and now I am working towards my Masters now.
This one is for my cousin. What would be the fastest BA degree he can complete? He has almost all the Sophia classes, FEMA classes, and he graduated from a fire academy and an ems academy which those two give him about 36 credits combined (I know some classes wont meet all the requirements towards a degree).
Basically he will need a degree in anything to eventually be promoted to Chief down the road. Not sure whats what these days. I know things change often.
Thanks a bunch,
Mike

UMPI would be the fastest/cheapest one these days. If he doesn't already have them, he will need (at minimum):
3 credits in Spanish (or any foreign language). Sophia's Spanish works for this.
3 credits in biological sciences. Sophia's Human Biology works here.
3 credits in physical sciences. Sophia's Intro to Chem works here.
1 credit in a lab science (either biology or physical science). It needs to come from the same source as the corresponding science course. Sophia has a Chemistry lab that works here, or they'll have a lab for human biology some time this week. The human biology lab should work for this requirement.
There are degree plans for UMPI here:

Next best if he doesn't want to do UMPI - Excelsior's BLS, which allows for 60cr of Free Electives, which he may have. The easiest GE to cover out of all of them in my opinion. Cost there is roughly $4k, and you bring in 113cr and take the final 7cr there.

I'm was in the same boat. I'm a newly promoted captain that is completing a bachelors in the next two-three months hopefully. All of my sophia, fire academy, paramedic credits transferred to Texas AM-Commerce under their organizational leadership program. If he's in Texas, I would suggest that. Otherwise I'd suggest the WGU route with their firefighter scholarship.
