Should I choose the Straighterline CompTIA or MTA networking course?

Are you planning to transfer them to WGU? If so, which degree? If your degree requires the Network+, then I would take whichever one better prepares you for your future course work.

The MTA cert is easier than CompTIA network+ so I would *guess* that the SL course for MTA is easier.

I only need it to complete one course in the WGU BSCS program, but none of the rest of my course work will require the knowledge of networking.
My question is, how much harder is the CompTIA then the MTA cert? Would it not be too difficult? What in particular would make it more difficult then the MTA? Is it just that it has more technical knowledge and terms that you need to know?

The part in the MTA syllabus about the extra 25 points is confusing me. Is the 25 points from taking and passing the MTA exam?

Since you're doing the BSCS, you're right, you'll just need the one networking course and not need the Network+ afterward. I can't comment on the SL courses specifically since I haven't done them and don't know anyone that has, but as mentioned, the CompTIA Network+ is indeed more difficult than the networking MTA so that coupled with the knowledge that the SL course for the MTA is fewer credits leads me to believe that the MTA course would probably be easier. I would recommend that you reach out to SL about the 25 points thing since you can no longer take and submit the MTA, though it shouldn't be a deal-breaker since it's a pass/fail class with a 70% cutoff and 25 points are only 2.5% of your total score.

Are you sure? On the ace website it says that the course is college credit. And WGU accepts either of the two courses for credit transfer.

I went by Straighterline's website instead of the ACE guide, since the ACE one doesn't have those course names: I can't attach the screenshot, but when you look on the Courses | Technology page, and find the courses, neither of the CompTIA courses, nor the 3 MTA courses, show any credit for them; all of the other courses show that they're worth 3 or 4 credits.

It appears that the 3 MTA courses on SL can't currently be bought. Instead of an "ADD TO CART" button it has "Click here to be notified when this course is available."

This is a different question then what I started this thread with, but does TESU accept credit for the network+ course from straighterline? It is not listed on the courses that are accepted by TESU from straighterline, but does this always mean that it won't be accepted for credit? Has anybody tried to submit a straighterline course to TESU that is ACE accredited but not officially listed on the partner courses with TESU?

CompTIA exams are unforgiving if you have no related experience.
