opinions please, have a few credits

Back in 2009, I got an eval from excelsior, but haven't done anything since. Four years later, figured I could use some guidance.

My purpose is to get a degree, in anything. I am looking to move in the next year or two, and I see many jobs that I'm interested in
are now asking for a degree plus experience. Fast is probably more important than cheap...but cheap is nice also. Smile

I'm not really sold on any school at the moment, so I'm open to suggestions as to the path of least resistance.

So, here is what I've got so far, credit wise. Once I can narrow down a school/degree, I'm sure I will have further questions as to tests and such.

Thank you for reading, and for any help/guidance you can provide.

I have 10 FEMA credits, but I see those may be worthless now, depending on school. Not the end of the world, but hey, 10 credits is 10 credits. Smile
I also realize the military credits and MS cert credits may be valid anymore either.

old excelsior eval:

2 credits for military service (applied professional)
13 credits for microsoft certs (applied professional)
10 FEMA courses

english comp 1 - 3 credits (written english)
english comp 2 - 3 credits (humanities)
intro to psych - 3 credits (social sci / history)
intermediate algebra - 5 credits (natural sci / math)
intro to sociology - 3 credits (social sci / history)
intro to computer apps - 3 credits (applied professional)

Based on the credits you have, it doesn't really matter which school you choose unless you really want to use those FEMA credits. COSC will accept them directly without additional charge. Excelsior will require that the credits be on an FCC transcript, and that'll cost you $80 per credit hour. TESC won't accept them at all. Excelsior and TESC will probably be your fastest options. TESC will be the cheapest option using the Per Credit Tuition Plan. Refer to the links below to see how this works.

The easiest degrees to test out of at Excelsior are business administration and liberal arts. The easiest degrees to test out of at COSC are liberal studies, individualized studies, business administration, and maybe psychology. The easiest degrees to test out of at TESC are business administration (general management, marketing, and computer information systems), psychology, sociology, liberal studies, and learner-designed area of study (as BSAST, BS, BA, or BSBA).

I don't know about Excelsior and COSC (they haven't had as many changes at TESC), but most of the TESC plans on the wiki are out of date. Some people have noted that they've updated their plans to meet the new requirements, but these are very personal plans. They chose the tests and courses that worked best for them. I have general plans that list all or almost all of the test out and ACE/NCCRS course options for each requirement.

Thanks for your reply Sanantone.

I had actually come across those two posts you linked while browsing the various posts.
I'm going to look deeper into the BA at tesc.

I definitely wouldn't pay that much to use the FEMA credits. $800...ouch!
