Just curious on opinions, I need to take the Social Science CLEP by Feb 28th. I haven't had a history course since high school (over 10 years ago and that was only US History, never took a world history), never taken psychology, just did enough to pass sociology on Straighterline ( don't feel like I learned much of anything), have never completed a full course on micro or macro economics (started multiple courses just never finished them) and recently took the American Gov CLEP, which I passed with a 55 (I feel like I have a good base knowledge on this, that test was a bear though). Do you think it's feasible for me to study and pass the Social Science CLEP by this time? Also will IC be enough for me to pass with my limited knowledge?

I have no idea if you will be ready or not. For one I never took a CLEP ever, I have only taken a DSST; however, I would presume if you dedicate yourself and put forth the effort you will be fine. Though I have only taken one DSST, I have taken a multitude of comprehensive examinations throughout my life. My technique is to start out with a practice test, make note cards for what I got wrong, review a bit, take a different practice test, repeat. I figure if I can get at least a high passing score on 3 different practice exams then I can pass the real test. So far that technique has worked.

Yes, you can be ready for the SS&H CLEP in the timeframe you are looking at. It can look a little intimidating at first with how broad it is, but in reality it's a very general overview. I didn't use IC for it (didn't know about it at the time) but intensely studying the REA study guide seemed like overkill to me after I took it. I'm sure IC and the feedback forum will more than prepare you for it.

It's doable by Feb 28. Make sure you study hard on history as it's central. I didn't use UC for this test, but its Flashcards and the Specific Exam Feedback have always prepared me well for tests.

I'm wondering if I should just take the US History CLEPs instead of this one, I started studying for it and I'm getting overwhelmed with the breadth of knowledge it's asking for. I know it would cost me an extra $100, since I would have to take two tests instead of one...

^^Are you thinking to take one of the History exams instead of the Social Science & History exam or in addition to it? There is no extra fee if you are thinking to replace it. If you have already registered for the SS&H exam on your CLEP account, you are able to request a refund (I believe it may be under an edit/change link) and then submit a new registration for the History exam you hope to take instead. Now if you intend on taking both (and have registered for the SS&H), make note of your expiration date (6 months from the date you registered).

I haven't registered for the SS&H yet, I need 6 cr in History, my uni counts that CLEP to meet that requirement. If I took US History I & II, I would have to take both costing $200 instead of $100 for the 6 cr SS&H
