I can imagine! The liberal arts capstone was all I took, and that was more than enough for me. On the bright side, the capstone will probably feel easy to you after this term.

I was short on credits, so I took the College Mathematics CLEP to finish my ASNSM. It was free through Modern States:

That's correct, you would need to take both capstones to get both degrees. It would be extra time, money, and effort, so those will need to factor into your decision.

Gotcha, I don't think the second bachelors would be worth the added time and effort then. I have not yet decided, but I may continue on to pursue a masters after I complete this bachelors, I think my effort and time would be better spent toward that.  If I do, it would be done part time nights/weekends while working full time, however.

Right now, my primary concern is having enough of the degree completed to be able to register for the capstone for the March term so I can graduate at the end of May.  It looks like I need 100 credits done, but not sure if I need to have the Writing for Success 2 course done (I am registered but have not taken the TECEP yet), and possibly 9 or 12 of my UL credits done.  I am finding a bit of conflicting information about what the prerequisites actually are. TESU's website only mentions needing 100 credits and >2.0 GPA.  Once I complete this term at the end of February I don't think I'll have any issue finding time to complete the other requirements on study.com, I just need to make sure I have enough of them done in time to be able to register for the capstone.

According to this thread you need both English requirements completed.

Don't forget the option to extend a class past the term if you're overloaded. For a couple hundred bucks, you can extend a course by up to 8 weeks. You have to be at least 50% complete, but if it keeps you from bombing out one of your courses, it would be worth it.

Basically... You only need 30 RA credits and 15 residency credits at TESU for your first degree, the second degree, you can transfer in all the credits but the Business Capstone. That means, for the price of one extra TESU class, you get one full bachelors degree - You can't get it any cheaper than this, anywhere.

Essentially... With your Associates in Accounting and pending ASCS, you can do the BSBA Accounting, BSBA CIS or something generic like General Management... Transfer all 117 credits into this degree and do the business capstone, your federal loans already will cover both degrees if you graduate at the same time.

Review classes you can transfer into TESU and only take classes you can't transfer in cheap, easy, fast. Last but not least, you can then ladder that up to any one of our recommended MAOL, MBA, MSML or any Masters of your choice, or go for the Masters from Coursera/EdX MOOC options. It opens doors for Business & Computer Science, and related fields...

If I'm not mistaken, the total cost for tuition, fees, and textbook for the one TESU class would be more than an 8-week session at UMPI, so it's not necessarily compelling from a money perspective. Even the time and effort for ten courses at UMPI can be arguably less than the capstone at TESU. Obviously I'm not one to turn down a degree lightly, but the line must be drawn at some point.

True, having said that, OP's taking 5 classes at TESU since December... It'll be very similar when they take 3 classes, even though both are capstone classes. I usually look at the overall picture and see if there can be extra balance between certs, degree, experience, and ROI/Value, since OP's only 35 - I would invest in the extra capstone to properly prepare for a Masters or MBA, if they're like 55, then I would go straight for the Masters instead...

I just wanted to follow up on this thread.  TESU did, after 2 weeks, give me credit for the Calculus course, and it did come in as 4 credits.

I also emailed advising a few days ago to ask if I there were any specific requirements, beyond the 100 credit and 2.0 GPA, that I would need to meet in order to be able to register for the capstone for the March term.  I received this reply:

"Your in-progress December term is underway and slated to end on February 23rd. Grades for this term are due to post online no later than March 5th. In which case, completing these fifteen (15) credit hours will place you at ninety-seven (97) credit hours completed. It is not until the completion of your January term (in progress thru 03/30/25, grades post by April 9th) that you will meet the one-hundred (100) credit hours to register for the Capstone. Late registration for the March term ends on Feb. 28th, your credit threshold wont be met until April 9th. In which case, if you wish to request early access to the Capstone for March term registration, please send you request to the Heavin School of Arts at 'heavin@tesu.edu.'"

I sent a study.com transcript in a few days ago with 3 more credits for a C++ programming course, but it has not been evaluated yet and since it took 2 weeks to evaluate my Sophia credits, I'm assuming it will be take about that long to add them to my progress.  So, maybe by ~Feb 11 I will have 85 credits complete, 15 near completion, and 3 more in progress as a TECEP.  The way this is worded, I am a little worried that I will be denied when I ask for "early access" to the capstone. I will, of course, ask for the permission, but if you were in my shoes, would you try to finish the TECEP and/or wait for the 3 credits to be transferred before asking the permission, or reach out right away?

Even though you want this degree ASAP, you're rushing into things by completing 5 TESU classes and also Study.com classes at the same time. When you're doing the Capstone(s), that extra subscription for Study.com needs to be evaluated or placed on hold if you don't have enough energy, time, to complete the Capstone requirements. Your focus should always be on the graded classes first, Study.com and alternative credit options such as Sophia.org, you just need 70+ to get credit/passing grade. Get all the credits transferred in, then ask for permission...
