I find Language Transfer to be awesome, and it's FREE. You can use the website or it has apps:

https://www.languagetransfer.org/

I used Language Transfer, Duolingo, and Pimsleur when I was studying for InstantCert, and I found Language Transfer to be the best of the bunch at actually teaching me the language.

Did I mention it is FREE?

What I should have done was get some Muzzy rips off of Youtube. I miss that furry dude.

I already have a science with a lab. The only two courses needed is American government and a language course.

If you only have 2 courses left, then you should do American government first, then give another try with Spanish on IC.  You can retake each test once on IC.

Yup, If that's the only thing left on your plate, I would do the way LevelUP mentioned, get the American Government course complete and try to give ICC another try with Spanish before going the community college route. It'll be much faster than a 3 month/12 week course.

I just finished my degree at UMPI, and had zero Spanish experience. I tried IC and the test covered reading, writing and listening which I knew I was not going to be able to do. I had already taken the French ACTFL and knew how easy it was. I was able to take the free Spanish course at Modern States do the ACTFL course and I chose the reading. It's a multiple choice test and very easy. Also if going to UMPI, take American Government there and you can knock out the whole course in a few hours.

Thank you! I’ll try this route before community college!

What kind of questions do they ask on the ACTFL? Is it paragraphs you have to decipher? I’m trying to gauge if it’s worth spending $51. I’m pretty good at reading Spanish. It’s the writing and listening I struggle with.

They have a "demo" in English for you to try. If you're good at reading Spanish, you should probably be able to pass.

Which exam are you looking for the ACTFL? They offer 4 options for credit... I would try the CLEP/MS option if you've done some Spanish already.

CLEP Spanish is supposed to be one of the hardest exams because the audio quality isn't very good. I'm not sure I'd recommend it under those circumstances.

But if you can read Spanish (or German)? Just go ahead with the ACTFL, IMO.
