Hi,
Has anyone taken Straighterline English Comp 1? I am thinking about taking it over my 4 week winter break and was wondering how difficult it was and if it can be completed in 4 weeks.
Thanks!

Yes it can be done if you keep up with the work. It is all tests until about chapter 5 and then the writing begins. You should be able to get it done. My son is working on English Comp 1 now. He hopes to get that and another course done with in the month.

How long did it take you or your son? How much time was he spending on it per day?

I really can not say the per day amount but it was about 2 weeks and he was through. He went through and did all the test first.

Yes it is doable -- but make the time. You may be able to do it sooner if you really knuckle down.
I took it while taking another compressed (8-week) college course with lots of writing. I was sick of all the writing before I was done, but it is not that difficult. Don't do what I did. Keep in touch with your representative and verify how to do things the fastest waqy. Not all of their instructions are that clear.
I kept doing what I thought I had to done, which was submit drafts for approval and suggestions. Turns out it is available in case you need it but if you don't you may be able to just submit directly and get your paper graded and move faster. Turns out I almost used up my draft minutes and she called me to warn me as I would be billed for more of that service. That's when I found out I didn't have to send everything -- even though the information said to do so.
Also, the drafts go to one place and the finished written assignment (for a grade) goes somewhere else. I missed that and you cannot move forward until they grade your submitted paper. It will actually block you. So don't wait until the end to find that out. I almost blew my 28 day deadline because of that.
Make sure you keep checking in with your rep. Mine was Jennifer and she was great. She helped me pull through under the wire and was great about helping you submit to FHSU. Hopefully these suggestions will help others.
