English Composition I Sophia Touchstones

I always feel like using Grammarly etc. is a form of cheating because you're meant to actually read, learn and execute on what you've learned. I went to B&M college and did English 125 three days a week from 7 am to 9 am and had to go look up tons of sources from all sorts of things like magazines, newspapers (microfiche), and online. This was back when I actually walked to the school library and had to look up microfiche in the catalogs and load them into a machine and all that. You really learn more when you do the footwork. If you're not cheating the course you're cheating yourself because putting in the time to format everything is part of learning. I will never forget that class and how hard I worked on it but it was very rewarding and I'm glad stuff like Grammarly wasn't around then.

There's just no alternative to getting the material to stick in your head than spending the time it takes to integrate it so you won't forget. Using software is easy but will your son retain the information for future when he will need it if he resorts to using software to cut corners?

I think he will stand out above everyone else using AI and Grammarly type stuff if he does it the old fashioned way.

I have found that the best way to learn grammar and writing is to read A LOT.

So our son failed the CLEP College Composition Modular with a score of 45   He is 14 years old, so some of it is probably simply due to his young age and inexperience (with grammar AND life).

He had passed the DSST Advanced English Composition a month prior, and found the latter easier.

He has decided to try the Sophia Learning English Composition 1, and would like to pre-write all of the essays before we restart our subscription. The syllabus can be downloaded without an active subscription, but it does not go into full detail about the Touchstone assignments.

Is there anyone with a current subscription who could copy and paste the essay assignments and send them to me or post them here? That would be super helpful.

EnComp with Sophia in my experience is different to their all other courses and it wasn't a walk in the park at all, but the instructor involvement was fantastic, but he needs to study it well.
