I highly recommend ALEKs for math because its a dual learning and testing resource. If you spend 3 weeks struggling with ALEKs you will come away knowing more than you did when you started and at $20 a month its super affordable. I finished 3 math courses through ALEKs.

I have to agree with ryoder... I was struggling to get back in the grove with math..
and feel I know algebra 10x better than I did back in the 80's thanks to Aleks.
Just wish they would offer calculus.

I Need the math credits for Gen Ed at Excelsior. I`ll have to ask if they will except ALEKS.. I looked into it online..It looked to me as if ALEKS is a type of tutoring site, not really for course credits. I guess i`m wrong. Thanks for all your info...this site is great.

Check that your school accepts ACE Credit Courses. You can have your ALEKS class transfered to ACE and then that will transfer to your college. I believe I read on these forums that Excelsior accepts it but please double check and don't take my word for it.

I just signed up and paid for 7 SL courses, last minute 10/31, getting them in before the proctor deadline. Just hoping SL honors this. I had planned to start off with Eng. Comp II, but I will do that later since it doesn't require a final anyway, and I am putting off Aleks Algebra 'til I finish the SL. I started accumulating the textbooks a few weeks ago. I made a list and regularly checked Amazon and ebay and managed to find what I needed for under $5/ea., so that is a big savings.
This has really pushed me to get my butt in gear and start working. I'm a big procrastinator. Cleaned off and arranged my study area yesterday and I'm starting today. Want to get through it as fast as possible and minimize the $99/mo. charges.
For anyone else getting in under the wire, there is a free course promo, google: Straighterline buy one get one.

Awesome, I bought Business Communication and Accounting II from SL just now so that I don't have to have a proctoring exam. Hopefully I can finish both within November.

10:23 on 10/31. Just tried to sign up for a bunch of SL course. Price changed to 49. each, policy changed to forced proctor.
Canceled my order. What a bunch of clowns.

Sorry you missed out on the deadline. Since you posted here at 1:29 am 11/1 EST, I suspect you are in a different timezone. I didn't notice if SL's announcements actually specified 11:59pm EST as the deadline, but you might try calling.
