ACE and NCCRS are Not Accrediting Organizations

I think most of us here know that ACE and NCCRS are not accrediting organizations, but the occasional person on this forum and others make the mistake of thinking that they are. They are credit recommendation services. They evaluate mostly non-collegiate courses, tests, and training and recommend them for college credit. They are not recognized by CHEA or the U.S. Department of Education as accrediting bodies. A school that is unaccredited or nationally accredited might have individual courses evaluated by one or the other to increase the chance of having their courses transfer, but this is only useful when transferring to colleges that will accept ACE or NCCRS credits. Even when a school is listed as a member school, they may not consider ACE or NCCRS credits earned by civilians.
