No per course fee which I was never a fan of with Straighterline, no buying expensive lab kits like SL has it. Just one fee and an all-you-can-eat course offering. Their only downside is that they don't have all the same science courses as Straighterline, but once they do there will be no reason to use Straighterline anymore.
I agree, Sophia has been a game-changer for my entire family's education. The only thing I'd add is that while the lab kits are pricey, I've found them to be more valuable than doing "online labs." Hands-on work is important. Some colleges and universities are already using these lab kits for their online courses. Of course, if you're studying computer science or business, it probably doesn't make much of a difference.

Hey,
Just a question. Which is the best platform to complete college level courses for credits? Sophia, Upistudy, Straighterline?

There are pros and cons for both lab types. Would be nice to have an option though, because the level of necessary engagement really depends on individual student need. If you're taking a lab for enrichment or curiosity, the online lab should more than suffice. Beyond that, a physical experience would be best if you need the physical experience.
That said, the one big advantage online labs have experience-wise is the number of different scenarios and settings you can be placed in that would be impossible to do with a physical lab. So what you lose in physical interaction, you gain back a ton with depth of material. Labster labs on Sophia go into a great amount of detail with 3D simulations and access to an array of virtual lab equipment to use during experiments.
With regard to SL, for struggling students, paying a per course fee then a subscription fee, only to then find out you need to spend over $200 more for a lab kit could be a bit much.
