I have a friend who is getting ready to apply to graduate school but she doesn't want to take the GRE or GMAT. She has always done distance learning through B&M schools and is fascinated with what I have done - Thanks to this group! Anyway I told her I thought I saw a post about this very thing the other day, but now I can't find it. Does anyone know if this is even possible? She is majoring in information technology. Thanks for your help! And yes it really is for a friend! LOL!

Okay, we'll answer the question from your "friend"...
GMAT: Only applicants to business school need worry about this test. Executive MBA programs often don't require a GMAT score, but applicants are required to have extensive real-world business experience.
GRE: Some graduate schools require that all applicants to all degree programs submit a GRE score. In other schools it's a department-level decision. One of my top three grad program choices requires the GRE because it's university policy. One does not require it, but recommends it for those who feel they need a little extra weight in their favor. The third does not require it at all.
Your friend will have to investigate programs that offer courses and project/internship/research/etc opportunities which meet her needs, and then winnow out the ones that require the GRE.

BSLS Excelsior College, conferred 9-09
started MS in Instructional Design program, Spring 2010
April 4 2009 through July 6 2009: 1 GRE subject exam + 1 Penn Foster credit + 11 DANTES exams = 61 credits. Average per-credit cost = $23.44.

Here's one possibility, M.S. in Information Systems Technologies, Wilmington University in Delaware. It is a distance education program and I'm pretty sure there are no GRE/GMAT reqt's.

Just as much as this board is "the" board for CLEP/DSST/testing help, there is another board that is "the" board for finding grad school programs. Most people here are in the process of earning undergrad degrees- I think you'll get the best info posting your question over there.
Ask for distance learning IT grad program without GRE and you'll be given hundreds of choices from the members. Good Luck to your friend!

Did your friend take the SAT? I recently looked at a practice General GRE test. It was very similar in content and difficulty to the SAT I took. It just had more questions and less time to answer, plus an essay to write.
If your friend has a particular school that interests them but requires the General GRE, it is not necessarily something to be afraid of or avoid.
