Straighterline transfers straight to TESU or have to go through ACE?
#1
Hi!
The last time I transferred any courses from straighter line, I believe they had to go through ACE and then to TESU. Is that still the process? Thanks in advance!

TESU now asks students to have StraighterLine (and Study.com) transcripts sent directly from the provider to TESU, not viaCredly. Source: Pop down the heading “I have credit from another source. How can I send it?” on the page Sending Transcripts and Other Documents to TESU, and scroll to the bullet point “• Per University agreement…”

My recommendation is to always send things from ACE to Credly for storing your credits as well, you can send StraighterLine and Study.com transcripts to TESU directly too. TESU will update anything that is newer than the previous updates they've received.

For Sophia.org, Saylor, and others that go through ACE, you'll need to send a Credly transcript. And for those that are NCCRS, it goes directly from the provider, such as Law Shelf or UPI Study. I like ACE as it has a repository to store credits, NCCRS doesn't.

so if I completed a degree with TESU before back when Straighterline was Pass or Fail according to TESU, would they go back and change that to a letter grade or would you only send specific classes over that you are doing now?

I got clarification on this that it wouldn't matter what was in the past.

Apologies if this has already been discussed!

I’m planning to take two StraighterLine courses and would like to have the credits appear on an accredited university transcript — preferably regionally accredited — so that I can have that transcript emailed directly to a professional association.
From what I’ve researched, Thomas Edison State University (TESU) seems to allow this through their Individual Learning Account (ILA) process. My understanding is:
  1. I first apply to TESU online.
  2. Then I apply for the Individual Learning Account (ILA) (Non-Degree Services) and pay the $432 fee.
  3. Once StraighterLine sends the transcripts to TESU, the credits would appear on a TESU transcript, which TESU can then email directly to the recipient (e.g., the professional association).
Can anyone confirm if this process works as intended — sending StraighterLine → TESU → official email to a third-party organization?
Or is there a better, more cost-effective way to achieve the same thing?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!
