I wanted to know if anyone has taken classes or has graduated from fort hayes. I'm wanting to persue a MS in criminal justice. I want to know the experience and overall quality and was the courses extremely hard. I've herd of extremely hard classes at excelsior that has given it a bad rap.

I never attended FHSU, but I read in reviews that their courses require much more writing than average. Since it's a liberal studies degree with a concentration in criminal justice, you'll waste 10 credits taking irrelevant courses. You'll take ten credits in useless courses; 18 credits in criminal justice; and will do an internship, research project, or thesis for 3 more credits. There is also a comprehensive examination (paper) which will count for 8 credits...I think?

I don't know much about Fort Hayes but I'd try to get the best graduate degree you can. Don't focus so much on rapid completion as the overall reputation of the school, and quality of your degree. Your military status suggests that you, like me, have all your education paid for. You may want to check out Southern New Hampshire University, which offers an MS in Justice Studies - you can also tailor it to include a specialization in Homeland Security or Public Administration. You can complete it in as few as eighteen months, and the school is reputable and regionally accredited. Also, American Military University offers a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice . Finally, Troy University, a very respected state college out of Troy, AL offers an MS in Criminal Justice, and the program can be completed [I believe] in an accelerated format, online.

Definitely shop and do your research. There are so many truly great schools offering Master's programs in CJ. Plus, don't shy away from a program that requires alot of writing - based on the grammatical errors in your post, I'd say a writing-intensive program would be good for your professional career. Not trying to be rude, I just want to see folks choose the best option for their future.

I do my posts from my phone, to do any grammer would just take too long. My consern is with money , I'm out of the gi bill and can only rely on the federal TA so I need the most bang for my buck, amu is 325 a credit but fort hayes and excelsior is 250 or cheaper which fits to federal ta cap of 250$ per credit hour for max of 4500 = 6 classes/ 18 credits.

I see. I was under the impression that you still had remaining GI Bill benefits. Well, if you don't mind a Christian College, Liberty University offers an online MBA/Criminal Justice degree with military tuition rates of $250 per credit. Liberty offers this rate to military all the way up to Doctoral level credits. Also, Liberty is ranked as a tier 1 institution by US News & World Report.

That sounds good, too bad that the federal TA doesn't go past a masters, a phd would be great but very time consuming. How hard are there classes, and how helpful are they?

My brother completed several online undergrad classes through Liberty, and from what I understand, they run on an eight week term schedule, and everything is completed online (no proctored exams, etc..,). As far as customer service, I haven't heard anything negative. Things may be different for grad programs, maybe someone else on here can offer a better informed opinion. Overall though, you can't beat Liberty's tuition discounts for military members.

I am proud to say that hopefully I will be graduating by the end of this spring semester from Fort Hays State University. I have been going there for the past two years my experience has been wonderful. Most classes do require A LOT of writing. Of course there are those courses where you read and then take a test.
