Hey guys/gals,
I've already taken Intro CIS at a community college. Can I take either of these courses at study.com or will it just duplicate what I already have? (for TESU)

Last I heard, they don't duplicate each other, but there's no way to know if they will duplicate what you already took, unless you have the course number from TESU already. Even then, it might be difficult to know unless you ask them directly.

I took Business 109 and emailed TESU to find out if 104 would duplicate. They told me they do not duplicate and put both into my degree plan. I would definitely email them and make sure whatever class you previously took does not duplicate before starting one.

That is very interesting what did they both come in as?

Business 109 comes in as COS-101 and Business 104 comes in as CIS-102 according to the advisor who wrote me back and put them into my evaluation as pending. That's also what they show as on the Study.com/TESU transfer page.

So for the OP, they need to know what TESU brings their CC CIS course in as, and whether or not either of these will duplicate.

here is an email I got today.
"I have added the BSBA in Computer Information Systems program to your record. You are allowed to pursue this area of study as long as there is no overlap in coursework between the two areas of study. You must also complete all degree requirements for both programs before applying for graduation.
Neither of the Study.com courses Business 104 or Business 109 are approved. Do not attempt these options.
I have approved the TEEX courses and the CSU Global course, MIS350EX, Information Systems Analysis & Design. Please access your evaluation to view placement of these options. The CIS area of study requires 12 credits (or more) of upper level coursework.
Finally, please provide course descriptions for the CSU courses, ITS405EX and ITS415EX. This information will help me determine if they'll apply to your program."
Now so for me I cannot use either computer course towards CIS.

I'm assuming they mean approved for specific requirements, not approved for TESU in general?

For me, the advisor put COS-101 into the Science section of the Gen Ed, and CIS-102 into the Computer section of the BSBA GM. Maybe they aren't advanced enough to use in the CIS AOS?
