Study.com Principles of Finance question
#41
Good luck. This is one I let slip away during my guardian scholarship, actually they all did as life got in the way:/. I'm still debating on going back to study or going the PF route. I did a few of the quizzes for the course and like others have mentioned they seemed redundant, although very insightful as I learned a lot.

Study.com Failed Principles of Finance Final Exam

I don't retain information well and I failed the Principles of Finance final exam.  If I do the retake will the questions that I answered correctly help boost my overall final grade to pass the course?  Cry I know that StraighterLine does it for there retakes, plus extra points on the first exams.  The key with the first exam you will need to get all answers correct.  My problem is, I need this credit before I register for the Excelsior Capstone by January 11, 2019.

1) What did you get on the quizzes and what did you get on the final exam?
Did you add the two and see if you got above 70% cumulative?

2) The second final has to be a "passing" score to give you a cumulative total above 70%
Example: You have 100% on quizzes (~33%), you have 50% on final (~33%), that will be ~66% for the course.

A recommendation is to make sure all your quizzes are at 5/5, if you can redo them to bring it to ~33%
For the final exam, you just need at least a 56 or 57% to pass the course as that will give you roughly ~70% cumulative total.

Quizzes - 100/100
Final exam - 54/100
Over all Grade - 60%

The second all quizzes are at 5/5, all Chapter quizzes that are optional are at 30/30; final exam 45/100.

Try switching to FIN 104: Financial Management and see if you do better with that - that is, if EC will take that course instead of Prin of Finance (I have no idea if they will).

Otherwise, you can retake the exam - it counts as your 2nd exam in the month, or else it will be $70 if it's your 3rd exam.

Hmm, if you got 100% on the quizzes and 54% on the final exam, that is a 69.3% overall, not 60%. That suggests you missed a pass by only one question. You could probably just study up on the areas that you know you struggled with on the exam, retake the chapter exams to help refresh everything (and study any areas you're weak in there) and retake the final exam to get a higher score. All you need is a 55% or better on the final to pass.

Can't you end up with 100% on the quizzes, but still not have a lot of those count because it took more than 3 tries to get to that point?  If so, you could easily need a much higher score on the final.  My DD needs 70% on the final to pass one of her courses for this reason.

Yes, you can earn less than 100/100 on the quizzes if you take them all but don't get them all correct, or get them all correct but use more than 3 tries to do so. However, the course page should show your final quiz score once you've completed them all. It will just show less than 100/100 in that case.

You need 210 points in the course to pass. So, if you earn say 74/100 from the quizzes, that means you will need at least 136/200 points from the final exam, which means earning at least a 68% instead of the normal 55%.

I did a retake on Study.com “Principles of Finance” exam tonight. The exam is the same questions, phrased different, I got 64/100. Darn. I’m thinking this time with 100/100. I’m thinking that I passed, since it states that “With this quiz grade, you will need to earn at least 55% on the proctored exam”. Hoping that this will do it. Any thoughts?
