Good morning all!
For study.com, besides watching every video and taking every quiz, can you all share how you actually study and prepare for the final proctored exam?
The more tips/suggestions the better. I appreciate your help since I know many of you breeze through study.com like clockwork
Thanks again.

It is $70 per exam, but that is the only downside risk. If you are a good test taker, just take the exam and study if you don't pass.

I almost always took the practice final too. Sometimes I took it 2 or three times, going over the ones I missed. The platform allows you to review your practice final in several ways. It's a well laid out study tool, in my opinion. The only time I did chapter exams is if I had taken a break from the course for a while or it was a more difficult topic. For a couple, I did take notes on detailed concepts.

I also always take the practice final so I don't waste my proctored final opportunity.

Hello,
Thanks for the responses. With the MAT 97 course, I took 3 of the practice tests. I scored a 74, 82, and 84 so I thought I was good to go. I took the final proctored exam and passed with a 57 (not good at all and shows that I really don’t master the material).
That’s why I asked the question because I didn’t know if anyone had successful ways to prepare for that final proctored exam aside from the lesson videos and quizzes.
Thanks again.

I don't bother with the chapter practice tests. At the end of the course I take the final practice exam just to gauge what I retained. I then review each quiz to refresh my memory and I may use the flash cards, but not so much. I haven't taken a math course yet though.
I also complete each quiz (up to 3 times) to get 100% going into the final. I always watch the video or scan the material before attempting the quiz.

I recommend that folks take the practice final exam twice. Once right after they complete the last quiz to initially gauge their skill (using the results of that test to help identify areas that need improvement) and again after studying. This will help patch any holes in knowledge from the first exam. If you can score at least a 70% on the practice exam you should be good for the real one.
Also, the practice final exam appears to use the same question bank as the proctored final exam, so taking it a couple times will also give you a leg up.
If you struggle with the practice final, use the flashcards in the last chapter of the course. I found they are very helpful for drilling information into your head. They are also a great way to refresh your memory if you take some time between the quiz and final exam (like if you're waiting for an exam to refresh, for example.)

Hi Merlin,
Thanks for the message. I did notice some of the questions on the practice test that was on the final exam. I took it 3 times (practice exam) and the last two times scored 82 and 84 so I have no idea why I scored a 57. Granted there are 20 questions more on the proctored exam but that still doesn’t match up with my score, you know?
That’s why I thought maybe I’m not studying correctly or not studying any of practice final exams right.
Thanks again!

The questions on the final are often reworded versions of those on the practice exams. I know I have been tripped up because I read something wrong (which of these is NOT the best answer instead of which of these is the best answer). It is also possible that you guessed some of the correct answers on the exams and/or happened to only get questions that you knew the answers to. There are also questions where more than one answer may be correct but they are looking for a specific one (not always the best) that was covered in the video lessons. Aside from that, I can't really offer any advice.
In my personal experience, I've found that the result on the second practice final is usually within a few percentage points of my result on the proctored final.

I took the practice exams until I got a better percentage 10 times then I needed to pass the proctored exam. Passed all nine exams the first time. Albeit A few of the exams I only had to get 25%-30% or greater to pass the course
