Study.com TESU Residency Waiver Will Remain
#11
Study.com Wrote:Hi Everyone-

We are sorry for all the confusion! Due to our partnership with TESU, Study.com members can still take advantage of the special price of $1800 on the residency waiver fee. This price will remain the same for Study.com affiliate members despite the increase in price to $2500.

Best,
The Study.com Team
Do you know how long it will remain? The Bursar at TESU said that they don't know how long because they don't know when the contract with Study.com is due to renew. A time frame would be great for planning.

Hi All!

Our current pricing is locked in through June of this year.

Unfortunately, we don't have any additional information at this point.

So am I understanding this correctly? As of right now, with the Study.com affiliation, the cost for the residency waiver would be $1800. But, with the price increase coming up, now that price would rise to $2250?
So for my case, I haven't signed up with Study.com yet. If I were to sign up tomorrow and indicate that I'm going through TESU, would the $1800 fee apply, or since I haven't taken any courses yet would the new price apply?

You're asking about several separate things.

1) With TESU, your enrollment doesn't "lock in" any fees, ever.  So you're paying the current rate for any fee at the time that you incur it.  Yes, you may get a discount, but that price will change each year, and the discount may as well.  And being a Study.com affiliate member doesn't do anything to make that $1800 price stick for you after the expiration of the agreement on 6/30.

2) For the RW, right now, the price is $1800 for Study.com members.  But you actually have to PAY that before 6/30/18.  Then, you have to graduate within a year of paying it (the RW is a good for a year).  So if you don't know whether you'll be able to graduate before a year, don't pay it no matter how much you'll "save", because having it expire does you no good.

3) The 6/30/18 expiration of the current pricing structure between TESU/Study.com has several aspects to it.  They put actual dollar amounts in with the % discount, so those prices were locked in about 18 months ago.  Then, even though the fees went up in 2017, the discounted price stayed the same (instead of the % off).  After 6/30/18, not only will the current discount prices end, but the % discount (which I imagine will stay in place) will be based off of the newest fees, which normally go up on 7/1 each year.  So, after 6/30, the discount will probably be 10% off of the then-current Residency Waiver fee.  And, each time they raise the price of the RW fee, it will be a discount off of that current price.

So, whether you're an applicant, enrolled, have taken a TECEP, taken a course...anything at all; you pay the current pricing for fees when you incur them.  For instance, if you're a student, and have the Study.com affiliate membership added to your account; even then, if you don't register for a course before 6/30/18, you're not going to pay any fees at all.  If you register for a course before 6/30/18, then you'll pay the current rate with the Study.com discount applied.  If you register for a course after 6/30/18, then you'll pay the current rate at that time with the Study.com discount.

Hope that's as clear as mud!

Is the $1800.00 the total amount you are charged for, or is it 1800 plus some other fees?

The $1800 is the residency waiver, there are other fees.
