Study.com sign up/cancel membership question
#1
I am going to take 2 classes with Study.com soon. One of the classes will be College Composition II.

Anyways, after I take 2 classes with SDC I will need to temporarily stop for about a month. My question is how painless is it to start, cancel membership (to avoid being billed again) and then later re-start with SDC?

It is very easy. When you pause your membership, it will ask you for a date when you would like to resume. Just select any date, 2-3 months away. Whenever you choose to resume, you just sign in, and you will see an option ‘resume today’. Click on that, and you are good to go.

You can cancel if you don't want to pause. It's easy to pay and restart membership.

There isn't really much difference between the two options. AFAIK, the main difference is that if the subscription rate changes between when you cancel and come back, you have to pay the new rate, but if you've paused instead, you retain the old subscription rate.

I'm not 100% sure whether the subscription automatically unpauses after the date you select or if you still have to log in to restart it. If it unpauses automatically, I'd be careful to make sure you remember when that occurs so it doesn't restart before you're ready. That risk alone would lead me to cancel instead of pause... just in case circumstances change in the interim.

They also let you update the unpause date, or do an immediate unpause. So you can change your mind later.

It looks like I have to become a member before I can see the pricing on SDC. Is it still $199 for the College Accelerator which covers college credit and taking 2 final exams in a month? Do they change pricing often or has it pretty much remained the same?

Just wondering, how many courses in total and how much time will you be using Study.com? You can pause your membership and it will pause at the end of the billing date, and resume when you want it to resume, in 30-60 or 90 days.

The fee structure for Study.com hasn't changed, it's still $200/month with extra exams at $70 each. I highly recommend doing at least a month with them, but to do 3 or more courses as it's the only way to bring down the pricing.

From looking at your signature, you are missing a few courses that can be done at Study.com for cheap/easy/fast.
1) Oral Communication - Study.com Communication 120: Presentation skills in the workplace
2) Information Literacy - Study.com Library Science 101: Info Lit
3) English Comp II - Study.com English Comp II

The first two can be done in a day each or less, the English Comp II can be done in a couple of weeks.
You will have time to do at least one or more courses, I highly recommend His 108/His 308 combo for 6 quick credits.

BTW, did you take Sophia Ancient Greek Philosophers? I think it was "halfoff" when you take 3 courses with them.
That's only $75 for an un-proctored course! If you are taking more courses with them, I really suggest that course!

I think you can also get Sophia Ancient Greek Philosophers via the PHOENIXHALF code if you sign up for an account via phoenix.sophia.org. Half off without having to buy three courses. But not 100% sure if that code is still active

I might pause it for 30 days. I share a similar view to Merlin in that I might have the most peace of mind knowing I was fully canceled so there is no possibility of me being charged on my credit card. Being "paused" does not give me that peace of mind.

Thanks for asking, no, I never did take Sophia's Ancient Greek Philosophers. I did take advantage of the "halfoff" when purchasing 3 courses however. I will take that course when I go for my BSBA: CIS. Right now I am just trying to knock out the associates degree.
