Ancient Greek Philosophers Touchstone is a "Philosophical Reflection Essay." It is worth 75 points. While I don't think the instructions for the assignment are as clear as they could be, basically, just work down the list. Also, read the rubric and match your work to it. For instance, the first box in the rubric says, "Clearly define philosophy and each of the three main branches of philosophy." They want a very clear "textbook" definition from the course material for "philosophy." And then make sure your essay also defines ethics, epistemology, and metaphysics (by "the book"). That will fulfill the first rubric. Some graders care how you fulfill the criteria and some really, really don't care, but in order to prepare for a tough grader, as long as each part of the assignment has been addressed and the rubric expectations met, it should be fine. Don't lose your momentum on this assignment, crank it out and turn it in. If you wind up with a tough (or unreasonable) grader, shake it off, be happy that you just earned 3 more credits! And then move on to the next course to earn the next 3 credits!!

Thanks for the feedback! My young teen son is actually taking the course, and this will definitely help him navigate the assignment. I'm actually glad there is a writing assignment because it allows him a low stakes opportunity to improve upon his writing skills while applying concepts that will help him mature into a good human. Losing faith in humanity these days let me tell ya! We still need English 1 & 2, so the more writing the better. Although I don't think it will be through Sophia, due to all the poor reviews on the grading. We'll see. I'll be sure to write back what our experience was. Thanks again!
