Hello,
I got an approval for CMP-354 as an CIS electives.
I am planning on taking this test in next 2 weeks.
Can you guys tell me how difficult is the test and what study material I should use?
Are there any practice tests available?
cheers,
BT

That's a 100 multiple choice exam so the best advice is to check out the practice questions and book suggestion here:

I love the outdated nature of some of the questions, talking about Windows 98 makes me laugh. Since there isn't a lot of information out there about the TECEP exams your input on what you did to study (and of course your results) will be helpful to hear. Good luck to you.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

After studying for Management Information Systems and completing a few TEEX courses, that test actually seems doable and I don't have an IT background. I just might attempt it. I should have attempted a degree in networking instead of computer science with all of that yucky programming.

I was thinking the same thing, I've taken the other computer classes and get a 68% on the practice exam without any preparation.

Some of us like it, you know. Seriously, however, programming may not have been "yucky" to you if you were taught problem solving before being thrown into coding. How to Think Like a Programmer: Program Design Solutions for the Bewildered: Paul Vickers: 9781844809035: Amazon.com: Books

I did fine in my Visual Basic course and I looked into learning other languages. Programming is just boring and tedious to me. I have a very short attention span.

Intro to Programming from Penn Foster has been accepted for the programming requirement. Don't take Penn Foster's Intro to Computer Programming because that's only 2 credits. System Analysis and Design will have to be taken at TESC or another RA school. I haven't come across any alternatives for it. If I do follow through with the BSBA CIS, I plan on taking System Analysis and Design at Central Texas College because it would be cheap for me as a Texas resident.

After studying for 3 weeks and ready to take the test to my dismay, today I was told by adviser that CMP-354 is no longer accepted as CIS electives :-( I even argued that it was approved for me by other adviser but she told me that it has been 9 months this course is longer accepted as CIS electives.
Has anyone got approved for this course recently?

Were you told this by email or over the phone? Information over the phone is often incorrect. If it is true that it is no longer being accepted as a CIS elective, then I wonder if it's still accepted as a natural science course.
