TECEP Refund for Cancellation?
#1
For those who have taken TECEPs:

Let's say that I schedule a TECEP exam and pay the exam fee. Then, when test day approaches, I decide that I'm not ready to take the exam and cancel. Do I get a refund?

I've never taken a TECEP yet, and I can't find information on the website about refunds.

Another question: How early can I schedule a TECEP? The registration form says that scheduling a test date sooner than three weeks in advance may not be approved.

I sent an email about this to TESC customer service last week. Still waiting for them to respond... :ack: As others have said, sometimes customer service is great, sometimes not so great.

Thanks!

When I took a TESC class this form was available in the student forms.
https://ssl.tesc.edu/TECEPcancellation.php

In case the link doesn't work here is the pertinent info. They do not always let you schedule early because the test are mostly still pen & paper so they need time to get the test to your mentor. If you are going to Trenton to take it you can usually schedule with a little less time.

NOTE: If you want to reschedule your TECEPÂ examination for another date or switch to a different TECEPÂ title, please refer to instructions below:

Students who wish to cancel their scheduled TECEPÂ examination should submit a TECEPÂ Cancellation Form online.

Refunds are not issued for student-initiated cancellations.

If an irregularity occurs, such as the discovery of defective testing materials or the detection of unauthorized materials or assistance during testing, the College reserves the right to cancel test scores. If the student is responsible for the irregularity, the test fees will be forfeited.

There is a $20 per-test charge for any change in registration, such as changing a test date or changing the test the student wishes to take. If a student cannot take the exam when it is scheduled, the student may reschedule to another date by submitting the original admission slip with the new test date written on it and $20 per-test fee. Students must adhere to registration deadlines for the new test date.

Thomas Edison State College reserves the right to cancel a test administration or withdraw an examination from use at any time, with full refund of fees.

If you have any further questions please contact the Information Center at (888) 442-8372 or info@tesc.edu.

Ouch! That burns!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Thanks Linda, for the information....

Here is an email I received from customer service just today:

Hi Andrew,

There is a no refund policy for TECEP exams once you've registered. However, if you feel you are not ready to test you certainly may postpone testing. You would be required to submit an email or give me a call to discuss rescheduling the exam.

Best Regards,

Teresa F.

So I guess I can postpone, but not cancel with a refund.

Which is why you should have the book and be well ready prior to you ever registering for a TECEP. Luckily it isn't like studying for the random questions on a CLEP with various books. The postponing policy is a good one though.

Linda, how close are you for graduation in Sept.? My degree requirements were updated yesterday with 120 credits complete and 0 left so I am sure my graduation request was accepted. Just a waiting game now. Also, I am pretty sure that was you I saw in the latest edition of the college magazine.

I will be taking Natural Science CLEP in May sometime, I also need to complete 2 FEMA exams. Once I have these done and sent to TESC I will apply for graduation in Sept. Yes that was me in Signals trying to get the word out on the testing alternative.

Congradulations on completeing your degree!!cheersmate What is next for you?

Thanks Linda. Honestly there are many options for me that depends on many different things. I am active duty military so if I decide to get out next year the post-911 GI Bill will be put to good use or I may stay in and do something else. As of right now I am taking the LSAT in Oct. and taking other options in my career in the military which will decide whether I stay in or get out to go to school. A lot depends on my score this Oct.

Thanks again. Also, I am sure you will do well on the everything you have left. The end is near (or at least the end of this leg).
