TERRIBLE experience with ProctorU!!
#11
To be fair, dealing with in-person proctoring isn't always a cake walk either. I tried to reschedule a UExcel once and the next open slot they had was over a month and a half later (after my registration would have expired. And I once waited for the last week on a CLEP only to call the test center and have them tell me they were closed for maintenance for the next two weeks. And all of my local test centers are only open during business hours - at least with online proctoring I don't have to miss work.

Could be worse though Wink I could be driving into class at the local uni so I can have the privilege of listening to the instructor read out of a textbook for four hours each week. I can do three TECEPs for the price of a fricken parking pass at the local school. So it's not all bad, lol.

I feel lucky - with CLEP and DSST there is a private proctoring center in Sacramento that is open late, early, Saturdays, and usually can be booked with just a few days notice. It was $25 per test. I've often thought it would be a great side business. Smile TECEPs are the only thing I couldn't get proctored there.

UPDATE:

I received a reply from the TESU testing center, they very graciously allowed my request for an extension, and contacted ProctorU to tell them to let me schedule. We will see how that goes, but I'm very happy with their response.

I also received a reply from my email to ProctorU, I will be calling them tomorrow to discuss the issues.

More updates to come...

My experience so far has not been nearly this bad, but I wanted to point out just one thing to anyone reading..

dfrecore Wrote:That's because their system apparently only lets you schedule 1 exam at a time, and you can't schedule another exam until after you've completed the first exam.

This is not true. I don't know what happened with your situation, but I've had no problem scheduling three or four exams ahead of time with them. I took one today (SL Financial Accounting done, yay!), I have two (SL principles of management, saylor principles of marketing) more scheduled for Thursday.

If you were trying to schedule the exact same exam.. yeah that might be an issue.

I haven't had any major incidents with ProctorU and I am grateful for the ability to test at home due to their services. However, I do find it frustrating to wait 10-15 minutes for a proctor regardless of whether or not you use the "take it now" feature or schedule 3 days in advance. If you need 3 days advance notice then you better be ready when the test time arrives. Other then that, the only issues i've had were new/unfamiliar staff members that is to be expected when dealing with any company (we've all been there).

I was not trying to schedule the same exam, they were 2 separate ones. I've actually seen someone else on this forum have the same issue. ProctorU's system would not let me schedule an exam past the exact minute that my first exam was scheduled (5:20pm on the 28th). It wouldn't let me choose a later date. It was like it was stuck at that time for some reason.

I too have had several tests all scheduled for different dates and times. But for whatever reason, the scheduling was not working at that time, and they could not override it, nor could they tell me why they couldn't override it. I managed to schedule other tests for the next two days after I took my test.

Just because something did NOT happen to you doesn't mean that it COULDN'T happen to someone else. It did happen to me, and I have taken 7 exams through ProctorU, so I do know what I'm doing when it comes to scheduling.

Calm down. I didn't say it couldn't happen because of a glitch, I was just pointing out that this blanket statement is untrue:

As you said you have scheduled more than one at a time yourself, you know it normally does allow you to do this. Their system having a glitch is not the same as them just not letting you do it, period.

I had a similar experience with the $25 premium option. It has not decreased my wait time, and if anything it has added to it as I now have to do the keystroke thing beforehand. Additionally, I bought this initially to use with StraighterLine, however I quickly learned it cannot be used with SL, and of course no refunds are offered so I was just kind of stuck with it. I decided to use it instead with TESU, but it's not particularly helpful as I only need it for 2 teceps and the occasional midterm/final, and even with the 'take it now' option I still en up waiting at least an hour for an available slot.

Please don't tell me to calm down, I was very calm. My heart rate was not at all elevated. But, I don't like rude people, I hope it showed.

You said I was wrong about something that ACTUALLY HAPPENED. It WAS true at that time. It has happened to other people as well. There is some issue with trying to schedule 2 exams close together on the same day or something, and it's an issue that has happened more than once. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, but it can be a problem for some people.
