Tinkering with spreadsheets again
Does anyone know if the Capstone credits in a BA count toward the upper level requirement?

UptonSinclair,
Have you considered adding the Penn Foster courses to your spreadsheet? It's helpful for people who need extra business courses. I ended up taking 4 PF courses but it was really hard to figure out which courses they offer and how to register. I finally learned how to use the ACE website. However it still didn't tell me how TESC would evaluate the credits. ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training
Thanks for the spreadsheet, I have referenced it many, many times as I have gone through my courses.

I am happy to add any courses to the spreadsheet. If anyone wants to share how their credits have been transcribed, I will add them to the equivalencies spreadsheet.

The advisor told me differently at TESC. She said liberal art capstone does not count the upper requirement, and it's just an additional upper class. She said I have to complete 30 credits, and 18 of which are upper credits. Plus the capstone, which equals to 33 credits.
In my opinion, I do believe the capstone counts towards the 18. I remember in my days with Excelsior, the advisor told me that the capstone (business policy) counts toward my upper. Anyway, I cannot really ask TESC for any more questions because I feel discourage. Each time I send an email, my email gets forwarded to the same person and I get the same response back - 'Thank you for sending us the information. As I mentioned in my previous email to you, we are unable to approve/plan courses from other institutions while you are an applicant at TESC. We will be happy to assist you with outside course planning once you are enrolled' with some generic information about what I asked but not really enplaning it.

I just got an email from the registrar office at TESC that the capstone does not count towards my upper requirement. The capstone is just an additional class.
[COLOR="#0000FF"]The Capstone does not count toward the 15 sh of upper level credits. You need 15 plus the Capstone.
Have a great Day!

Wow, that's not the case at COSC.
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

Hmm, seem that may be nice language for it DOES count. Every BA requires a min of 18UL credits in area of study.
"A minimum of 18 credits equating to 300 or 400 Thomas Edison State College are required." (Source: Liberal Arts Degree Program Requirements)
The BSBA is the only program that require min 27* UL credits between the AOS (12) and Core (15). Well I would guess the same may hold true of the AST programs. They are highly technical and I know they require higher maths and specific subject requirements.
* Edit: I have seen an exception made where a 200 level CC intro to marketing course filled the core marketing requirement. But I cannot remember the student or the time of graduation. It was most likely prior to the community college transfer equivalency, course description (LL/UL), cut off date.

Yes, for a total of 18 total UL.

You need 18 total UL at TESC, which includes the capstone.
