Does TESC still offer the free FEMA credit thing?
If so, can someone link me to their site showing any information about it. I have looked all over and cannot seem to find anything...
Thanks

I found the first search result on Google (searching fema site:tesc.edu) seems to still be the most current thing available (from two months ago):
http://www.tesc.edu/degree-completion/do...review.pdf
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

That link says all courses with a * are independent study courses and no longer ofered by FEMA... the majority have a * beside them.
I need to get 6 credits worth of FEMA courses in one day next week. Which FEMAs should i do that have been accepted by TESC most recently?
Thanks!!!

Look for things that interest you or try out the FEMA PDS courses which get you a certificate from FEMA (
Emergency Mangagement Institute | Professional Development Series (PDS)). Keep an eye on the .a, .b, or other notes on the TESC grid so that you ensure credit and note that not all of the PDS courses from the link above are worth credit at TESC.

Five of the seven courses offered in the Professional Development Series are credit-worthy according to the current list (finish the other two for a cute little certificate to add to your resume when not under a time constraint). Find a sixth credit-worthy one that looks interesting, and you're set.

If you look closer the courses with the * are usually an older version of the same subject. IS-235 is no longer offered it was replaced by Is-235a which is also no longer offered it was replaced by IS-235b which is still worth credit. If you look closely there are still about 20 courses acceptable at 1 credit each. If it was me I would print out that page highlight the ones that are still worth 1 credit and then go to the FEMA page and find 6 you find interesting. Still very doable free credits at TESC for free.

I'm brand new to this site and TESC (my first courses start on July 1st), so I apologize if this has already been answered but...
I've seen on these boards that the FEMA courses are entirely free to take and get credit for, but when I went to the FEMA site I couldn't see how to get credit without paying for transcripts.
Is it literally entirely free to take the courses AND get the credits at TESC? If so, how?
Thanks in advance and sorry again if this has already been answered I'm just super overwhelmed.

As long as you are enrolled at TESC they will accept the credits for free. Just take the exams on FEMA website, pass, and once completed with all of them request a transcript to be sent to TESC. Done, no cost to you.

Thanks so much.
Do you think it's at all advisable to just take the exams right up front and then just go back and use the study materials for the ones I don't pass?
In other words, how necessary is it to study? I took the pretest for one and got 21/25 correct, started taking the course but got mindnumbingly bored and decided to just go ahead and take the test. I don't know if I passed yet or not, but the questions were basically the same as the pretest so I am fairly confident. lol
Also, has anyone taken a few, requested transcripts, and then gone back and taken more and requested transcripts again?
Editing to add: I did pass

that's kind of exhilarating! I'm going to take more, wish me luck !
