My academic evaluation through TESC was updated again today... they put a few new CLEPs and DSSTs I've taken in the past few weeks on there, as well as some old ones that I had to send them the official transcripts.
Anyways, this is what caught my eye:
F: Precalculus (Completed)
> Take 3 semester hours of Quantitative Business Analysis or
> Precalculus. Students who have completed College Algebra
> should take MAT-129 to avoid duplication of credit.
Src Course # Title S.H. Grd TESC # Notes
1.. MAT-121... College Algebra.......... 3.00 CR MAT-121 *NE
It says take precalc or quantitative business analysis... but I took CLEP College Algebra and those credits satisfy that requirement? College Algebra and Precalc are hardly the same thing.
So I was wondering.... does anyone know of any other odd "*NE Non-course Equivalency" when it comes to TESC and CLEP/DSST ???

You have completed that block. See where it says completed?
I have NE all over my eval for tests and aleks and straighterline etc.
It means that its not a course that you took but it equals something at TESC.
Its good news.

Follow up, errors are made ALL. THE. TIME. It would stink BAD if they did this on accident and when you filed for graduation..."oops....looks like you'll need precal after all, our bad" and of course they'd be right.

I know what the *NE means... I was just surprised that they took Algebra in place of Precalc because Precalc is much more difficult.
So I was wondering if anyone knew of any other "strange" or "easier" course equivalency CLEP/DSSTs at TESC.

I agree with Cook, this is definitely an error and they would have caught it...usually within the next two updates.
It was most likely a software glitch. The courses are entered and then the software takes over. This is why you will sometimes see courses fall out of a section or they are dropped down to the other section. you just call up advising and they fix it.

Sorry I made an error in understanding your post.
Don't waste time with the mentor. Just send an email to registrar at tesc.edu with your statement that they granted the wrong course equivalency for that item.
It happened to me twice and they fixed it the next day they received the email.
