Has anyone taken either of these exams? If so, I would like to hear about your experience. I realize that TESC exams are way more expensive than most others, but it appears that the choices are extremely limited with regard to these 2 core business degree required courses. I guess what I'm trying to determine is whether or not the exams are realistically do-able, or is an Excelsior College course (or similar) a better option. Any insights? Thanks.

But I just registered for these courses through Excelsior...although I hated to. I checked into the Ohio University Test option for Op Management and the test was almost $300 then they required a book prior to taking the test which more than another $100. There was still no guarantee I would pass....so I just decided to bite the bullet and take these two plus the required 1 Credit info management "class" at the same time. I just want to get it done and the less institutions I have to deal with the better I like it. Thats just me though...

Okay, I am curious about the Ohio University exams. It appears as though they are more expensive that CLEP or Dantes, range of about $200- $400 each, and you must arrange a proctor for the exam at a local accredited college, high school, or US embassy. You receive the book and syllabus for the course, and must arrange the exam within six months. This seems a little more complicated, but I am interested in these exams because it seems they offer much more variety in upper level credit, and because I think maybe the guided study would be helpful for exams in subjects that don't come easily to me, like math. I looked through the Excelsior Catalog the other night, and tried to plot out a testing plan for a History major or a Psychology major, and I wanted more options for upper level credit. Has anyone else tried the Ohio University exams? Especially to fill upper level credit requirements for a particular major? Even so, I will post the web site so you all can check it out. On the charts, take note of the CCE (College Credit by Examination) column. I see about 100 courses for credit by exam, almost 40 at upper level credit.

Hi everyone,
I took the TECEP Operations Management exam today, which ended up being tougher than I expected! To study for it, I mostly used one of the recommended books, âOperations Managementâ by William J. Stevenson, from which I made my own study notes based on each chapter. However, after taking the exam, I would say that more than half of those notes werenât even needed, as this exam really seems to focus on some key areas and that is it!
Joshua Graham, who created the website http://www.123collegedegree.com, posted some excellent feedback about what areas to focus on when studying for this exam. Here is the direct link to the page where you will find this information: http://www.123collegedegree.com/bsmonth5.html
Joshuaâs list is very thorough and very accurate regarding what to study, and the only thing I would add is to make sure you also study Inventory, Location Planning & Facility Layout.
In hindsight, I wish I had focused ONLY on the areas he mentioned, because I didnât really need to spend the amount of time that I did studying other areas, so keep that in mind and save yourself some study time. :p
It took me almost 2-1/2 hours to take this exam, and now I get to wait one to two months for the results! Stillâ¦Iâm glad I took the exam rather than take the LSU class, because in the end I really think this involved a lot less work and time.

Wow - what a long wait!! In that amount of time you could squeeze in the LSU class as a back-up -
I'm sure that will not be necessary as you will be receiving a passing grade - hopefully before ground-hogs day -
Good Luck!!

Hi all,
I will also be taking this test on December 19th. I have an additional comment.
DO NOT BUY THE ISTUDYSMART COURSE FOR THIS!!!
In fact, I don't think I'll ever buy an iStudySmart course ever again. First, the lessons don't include any instructional material. They are only questions with page numbers in a text book (that you have to buy separately) where the answer supposedly can be found. There is no feedback on the questions. Just a question and a block where you can type in your answer. Also, the answers aren't fill in the blank either. They are short answer questions like "Define operations management".
The computer program also includes about 480 multiple choice questions in an exam format. However, some of the answers are wrong and some of the questions don't provide enough detail in order to answer them. For example, question 97 reads
What is the break-even quantity (produced and sold)?
A. 25,000 units
B. 30,000 units
C. 40,000 units
D. 42,000 units
E. None of the above
Nowhere is there a chart or additional information to be referenced in order to answer that question!
Question 108 is a minimax regret problem that is just plain wrong.
They provide a table:
Alternative High Low
Buy 80 0
Rent 70 30
Lease 30 50
The question is: The minimax regret strategy would be...
A. Buy
B. Rent
C. Lease
D. High
E. Low
High and Low aren't alternatives. They are states so they are obviously wrong. When determining minimax regret, you are trying to choose the alternative that has the least of the worst regrets. To do this, you subtract every payoff in each column from the best payoff in that column. This will create a table of regrets.
Alternative High Low
Buy 0 50
Rent 10 20
Lease 50 0
The next step is to identify the worst regret for each alternative, which is the highest value from each row of your table of regrets.
Alternative Regret
Buy 50
Rent 20
Lease 50
Rent obviously has the lowest regret and should be the right answer. However, the iStudySmart material says Lease is the right answer.
Based on these and others, DON'T BUY THE ISTUDYSMART MATERIAL. It will only make you dumber.
