TESC $$$ Question
#1
Hello TESC Students,

I am so excited because my dear husband is deciding to join me on my degree journey. I made a hasty decision to matriculate at COSC, which I don't regret, but I actually recommended TESC to him based on the fact that they recommend, but don't require, taking a capstone. COSC does requires the capstone, which I don't mind taking, but DH really wants to see if he can test through everything.

Anyhow, he has been accepted and is calculating costs and somehow came up with a 12k cost, not including our study materials and our CLEP/DSST costs. He's telling me that TESC will charge him $86 per credit to accept his CLEP's.

I will end up paying about 1/3 of this price for a COSC degree, assuming that I manage to finish in one year, so I can't imagine that TESC is that much more expensive.

Would anyone here mind sharing their costs with me? He hasn't matriculated yet, so we want to make sure that he makes the right choice.

Thanks!

Thanks NAP. Why don't I ever find what I'm looking for when I search?

It sounds like TESC will be in the price range and this is good because unless I figure out what I want to study for my Master's, I will probably go for a 2nd Bachelor's once I'm done at COSC, unless I'm totally burned out. Not to mention, 15 year old DS is starting to earn college credit, so this could get pricey.

I will also be very happy once DH decides that he can also post on the forum and doesn't need my assistance. Wink

I did not realize when I first enrolled at TESC, but you can take all your testing out exams then just have one transcript from CLEP and one from DSST etc. sent to TESC when you are ready to graduate.

I enrolled at TESC in Oct. 2006 in that time I only took 2 TESC courses and this is my second graduation, I live in NJ and with Courses, testing, ALEKS and FEMA I estimate my total cost in 4 years to be about $10,000. If I had waited to enroll until this year and only received my BA It would have been at least $4000 cheaper.

Not true at all.

Like Linda said, don't marticulate until you are sure you are within a year of completion, and you can get a good idea of that from what is posted online. Have him start taking CLEPs, DSSTs, and maybe ECEs and TECEPs, and it works best if he already knows what he wants for an Area of Study so he can test with those requirements in mind (while also realizing that they could change) as well as Gen Ed requirements.
