TESC and the Center for Financial Training
#1
I posted this originally under the GEN ED forum but realized it is more appropriate here.

The only reference that I could find to this institution is a 3.5 year old thread found here.

They have quite a few ACE approved courses that TESC is happy to accept. See here.

I was looking for a source of credit for BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS. They offer an appropriate course. Has no one used them?

Looks like the courses are $545! You'd probably be better off taking the course at TESC for less than $100 more and taking out the middleman (or of course testing out or using Straighterline as sanantone said). To me your better off with a letter graded class than ACE credit if you spend that kind of money (unless it is significantly cheaper like Straighterline, ALEKS, or CLEP/DSST).
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

I am unaware of any CLEP or DSST that will satisfy the BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS requirement at TESC. That leaves a handful of options including StraighterLine and Penn Foster.

I've read that the SL course is incredibly tedious. I've read that Penn Foster is pretty easy. But, of course, the PF is also a little iffy from an accreditation standpoint. I am after self-paced so I can finish it quickly. The cost isn't as important as the speed.

I suggest the SL course and did it in less than a week. Unlike other SL courses, you need to submit some papers for grading. My stuff was graded and back by the end of the next week.

Best of luck.
