TESU - ASNSM CS / BA Computer Science megathread
#1
with Computer Science area of study being one of the most hardest credits to fulfill / test out, I have compiled a list of courses that may fill these areas. Please feel free to chime in so that everyone going this route can share what you know.

--------------------------------------------------------
BA Comp Sci
BA Computer Science requires 21 Units TOTAL of Comp Sci electives.
18 TOTAL Upper Level (UL) credits for whole program. (15 credits which must be from the Comp Sci area of study.) That is after calculating the Capstone (UL), you need 15 UL credits with Capstone.

3CR | Management Information Systems (Saylor or DSST or ed4credit) (CIS-301) (UL)
3CR | Fundamentals of Cybersecurity (DSST) (CIS-344) (UL)
3CR | System Analysis and Design (CSU Global) (UL)

3CR | Software Engineering (SAYLOR)* (UL) UNCONFIRMED

3CR | APU Linear Algebra (UL) (Linear Algebra counts towards the 15 UL credits if you use it to fulfill the AOS math requirement -davewill)

---------------------------------------------------------
ASNSM Comp Sci and Lower Level Comp Sci AOS courses: 16 Total Units, 9 in Theory and 7 is CS/CIS and flexible.
9 credits of Theory have to be in [assembly language, compiler construction, data structure, linear algebra, numerical analysis, discrete math, or switching theory and automation].

These only require Lower level Comp Sci credits, but any UL above can fit in here as well.

Theory (Hard to fulfill this)
3CR | Data Structures from Community college (LL)
3CR | Linear Algebra (CC or APU or a school below)
3CR | Discrete Math/Structures (CC or APU or a school below)

Non Theory (CIS courses will fulfill this as well, they are pretty relaxed with the non-theory section)
2CR | TEEX Cybersecurity for IT Professionals (duplicates DSST Fundamentals of Cybersecurity) (LL)
3CR | SL Intro to programming in C++ (COS-213) SL (LL)
3CR | Information Technology Fundamentals (SL) (CIS-107) (LL)

---------------------------------------------------------
Any class from a community college automatically transcribes to a Lower Level class. 4 Year universities need an academic advisor to tell what it transcribes into and you can appeal it with the dean if you do not like the outcome.

LINEAR ALGEBRA
LSU Continuing Education $184/Credit
Linear Algebra Online Course | MATH207 | Courses | Online Distance | Extended Learning | Academics | UND: University of North Dakota $278.29/Credit
APU Course: MATH220 - Linear Algebra $270/CR (Upper level)
Course Information - Oklahoma State University Correspondence Education And Outreach Testing Center $609.05 total

DISCRETE MATH/Structure
APU Course: MATH210 - Discrete Mathematics $270/CR
Discrete Math Online Course | MATH208 | Courses | Online Distance | Extended Learning | Academics | UND: University of North Dakota $278.29/CR
Mathematics 2358 : Correspondence Self-Paced Studies : Texas State University $804.99 total
https://learn.saylor.org/course/cs202 Unknown if TESU will transfer

Some Online CS Colleges/Classes for lower level and upper level

Foothill http://www.foothill.edu/schedule/schedule.php (cheap lower level cs courses, fully online) [Java/C++ Data Structures, Computer Architecture)
Oakton https://www.oakton.edu/academics/distanc...terScience $123.25/CR (lower level)
Palomar https://www2.palomar.edu/pages/schedule/ (lower level)
Santa Monica https://smccis.smc.edu/apex/f?p=123:1:0::NO:RP:: (lower level)

Ft Hays https://tigertracks.fhsu.edu/TigerTracks/?page=CS $207.24/CR (has ONLINE upper level)
CSCI 361 Computer Science II*
CSCI 363 Computer Operating Systems*
CSCI 365 Systems Architecture *these classes need to be confirmed to transfer in UL

I'm very happy to see someone take on this effort. This is a good place to include my spreadsheet for the TESU CS degree. Linear Algebra counts towards the 15 UL credits if you use it to fulfill the AOS math requirement.

Thank you for putting this together! It would make my day if the 3CR Software Engineering course from Saylor transferred as UL. I need two additional UL courses, because I took Linear Algebra at a community college, and giving so much $$ to TESU is making me sad. Has anyone run the Saylor course by TESU yet?

If you're a current student, just email advising and ask them if it will count in the CS AOS. You should get an answer in a couple of business days. If it will, they will plan it into your eval, and you can go for it.

I've just emailed advising, I'll update in a couple days. There's one report of it being accepted as CIS-351 Software Engineering at TESU. It's great news for BACS students, since the software engineering course at TESU is expensive and has less than stellar reviews...

I'd like to add Athabasca university. An online Canadian university that is regionally accredited and is in compliance with the state of New Jersey.its about $762 us dollars per 3 units and it starts monthly if I recall correctly.also has graduate courses.
Undergraduate Courses : Athabasca University

Yep, just heard back from advising and they confirmed the Saylor Software Engineering course will transfer in as CIS 351.

If MAT321 is part of the Comp Sci Area of Study, then that would be correct. You only need 12 hours in the Electives.
I might have skimmed it a bit too fast, but see here - http://www.tesu.edu/heavin/ba/Computer-Science.cfm

So, pick one of these: You need 15 credits from this list.

C. Computer Science Electives*

Artificial Intelligence
Assembly Language
Comparative Programming Languages
Compiler Construction
Computer Architecture
Computer Arithmetic Algorithms
Computer Information Systems
Computer Organization
Computer Statistical Techniques
Computer Simulation
Operations Research
Problem Analysis and Solution
