TESU BA Computer Science
#11
At least one of the Saylor CIS/CS exams went from UL to LL. I'm not sure that's an option anymore.

Basic Programming from CSU Global may still transfer as upper credit. https://csuglobal.edu/undergraduate/alte...ssessments ITS320S
Talk to someone other than the person who doesn't know the capstone doesn't count towards UL.

This is good advice.  Earlier in the year when I was looking at this course they had it slotted as UL for me.

I may be over complicating things here, but do math classes count as AOS courses for a CS degree at TESU?

I assumed so since Calc 1 + Discrete Math is under the AOS required courses section "A" on the course outline, does this mean all math classes count for the AOS such as precalc, Stats etc.

I just heard from a TESU adviser today that CooperSmith's Linear Algebra comes in as MAT-321 and will apply towards the area of study for a BA in computer Science. That was really good news to me since I'm already 40% of the way through the class and was taking it mainly to learn the topic. To discover that it will fit in the AOS was just the icing on the cake!

This is amazing news! I'm going to double-check with my advisor. Does it come in as upper level?

No, precalc and stats won't work in the AOS.

My guess is it's only math classes that are part of a normal CS degree (since TESU's is very light on math). We know Calc 1 and Discrete Math work (in fact, they're required), and we know Linear Algebra works. I'm guessing Differential Equations would also work, if you had credit in that. I wonder about Calc 2?

Actually, I think that LinAlg is a holdover from when you could choose Discrete Math OR Linear Algebra for the required math slot. I suspect no other math courses would work, but I'm only guessing as well.
