TESU BALS Concentration
#1
I keep hearing people talk about a concentration on their BALS degree. I don't see an option when selecting an evaluation for it. How would you go about getting one and what are the requirements?
Georgia Institute of Technology: MS in Analytics (3/32 Credits)
Boston University: MS in Software Development
Thomas Edison State University: BA in Liberal Studies

Click on any of the concentrations to see what's required. For the "general" ones (Humanities, SocSci or NatSci/Math), you just need 18 credits of the concentration. For the rest, they have specific courses that you have to take to get the concentration (and they award an undergrad cert with the BALS, rather than you having a "concentration"). The regular rules also stil apply to these (18cr of UL in the AOS, 6cr of 100-level courses max).

I had to email an academic advisor to get it added to my degree. I have a concentration in Humanities. The concentration is 18 credits, at least half of which must be upper level. Then you have your Capstone and 12 credits of general Liberal Arts coursework to round out your 33 credit AOS. You need 18 UL credits for the AOS altogether, so I have 2 UL courses in my general Liberal Studies section and 3 UL courses in my Humanities concentration. The evaluation will show that you need all the UL courses in your concentration, but that’s not true. You’ll just have to email academic advising to let them know where you want all your courses placed. I have oodles and gobs of LL humanities credits so those are very easy to get. The UL ones are pretty sparse, but still doable.
