TESU COS-111 (Introduction to programming) vs programming languages, watch out guys
#11
To respond to both replies...

We don't know if TESU will take that course as COS-111 or not since it hasn't been around long enough to get an equivalency yet. And if anyone here has taken and transferred it, they haven't posted the evaluation yet. Given TESU is pretty slow in evaluating transcripts, doubly so for new courses, most likely anyone who has taken it will still be awaiting final assessment.

We know that TESU is working with OnlineDegree.com and developing an established transfer agreement. So, until that is finalized (or we get results from people who've successfully transferred it to TESU), we can only speculate to its equivalency.

I'm Workin on that course now. I suspect that it will come in as python programming instead of intro to programming but not sure yet. I'm taking the class really slow since I legit want to actually learn to code. Doing lots of extra practice and such from other free classes.

(Missed Merlin response...)

That's the python course that if you miss you need to wait 3 months, and only available to US citizens, it also remains to be seen if they will transfer it as COS-111 or a programming language.

TESU rep told me at the time that they were not aware of a provider matching that course (before onlinedegree.com), it is also a new requirement since they changed the catalog, before that you used to be able to put a programming language in that slot.

TESU found a way to force you to do the 16 credits for the CS degree. They want to make at least 5000 min on that degree.

These are the two ways:

1. Lets say you do all the courses else where at minimum you must pay 1098 for the capstone, 300 for the cornerstone and 1098 for that intro programming course plus 2200 for the waiver, then 332 for graduation.

2. It will cost around the same to do the 5 courses through TESU, the cornerstone then pay for graduation for less hassel and a GPA.

Since I already finished the capstone before I decided I will do the comp sci, I have to do choice 2.

Still brings my total to below $10k for a regionally accredited CS bachelors degree. And these days CS is like the physics or mech engineering of the modern world, very versatile for STEM employment.

Yeah, the waiver fees is a killer here... and you forgot Data Structure tho Tongue.

I might try to do the 3 courses on SDC (discrete, arch, op system), do the capstone and then wait to see if SDC add data structure and intro to programming in the next year...

Computer Science 115: Programming in Java is NOT a transferrable course to TESU and will not fulfil that requirement, I was just told by academic advising.

While it may not fulfill the requirement, I think they're 100% wrong (as usual with TESU advising) that it wont transfer at all. It's credit-recommended. They might not have an equivalency yet for it, but there's not reason it wouldn't transfer.

And this thread already started with someone stating it was accepted by TESU (though as Computer Science 115: Programming in Java -> TESU ITS-150)
