TESU CS Progress + Advice?
#1
Hey! I've made some progress on my degree for TESU via the TEEX exams and Study.com. Right now, I have some holes to fill in my degree plan. I'd appreciate some advice on the easiest/best sources to get credits from.

General Education (57/60)
     Civic Engagement:
          (3) https://learn.saylor.org/course/view.php?id=344 transfers as POS-282
Computer Science (12/36)
     (COS 101):
          (4) straighterline.com/online-college-courses/technology/cs101xxzynsl001000001-b.html
     (COS 241) Data Structures:
          (3) (SUGGESTION)
     (MAT 270/321) Discrete/Linear Algebra:
          (3) (SUGGESTION)
     (COS 3**/4**)
          (8) (SUGGESTIONS)
     (COS ****)
          (3) CIS-201 for BUS206 from Saylor: https://learn.saylor.org/course/bus206
          (3) (SUGGESTIONS)
Liberal Arts Capstone (3)
     (LIB 495)
          (3) Liberal Arts Capstone via TESU

Does anyone know if the other Saylor courses that transfer to ACE (COS102, CS302, CS402) on this page (https://www.saylor.org/credit/) transfer to TESU?
If they do, that'd get me a lot further!

UL courses:
Saylor Software Engineering
CSU-Global Systems Analysis & Design
DSST Fundamentals of CyberSecurity

Discrete Math / Linear Alg - Community College, unless you need it to be UL, then it can be taken at APU or one of the other online schools. Linear Algebra seems easier to find in my opinion.

Data Structures - Community College. Note that you typically need to have a prerequisite or two.

Anyone know if the CMP3*** credit that comes from https://learn.saylor.org/course/view.php?id=84 counts as Area of Study?
#4
I read that no CMP count, but I'm not sure.

COS302 works as UL credit.

COS102 is supposed to work as LL credit.

I believe I was wrong about Straighterline's course transferring as COS 101; I just read that it transfers as a 2**. If that's true, I should be able to do:
SL's COS101 (3)
Straighterline's C++ (4)
SL's COS102 (3)
SL's COS302 (3)

Smile Yeah, it's a programming course, not COS 101.

I think one of Saylor's COS comes in as CIS, but still works. I would verify before doing them.

Yeah, this page is a bit vague on whether Saylor's shows up as CIS or COS:

Saylor Open Course Option link from TESU and Saylor Credit Courses as a reference.
TESU: https://www.tesu.edu/degree-completion/O...Option.cfm
Saylor: https://www.saylor.org/credit/#available-courses

From your initial post, do take the Saylor course for Civic Engagement.
Yes, you should take Saylors Intro to Comp Sci I and II, Software Engineering as well.
Both the Saylor BUS 206 MIS and BUS 303 Strategic IT should come in as MIS 301 at TESU.
I would take both since it's cheap and will prepare you for your future goal/workplace.

SL Into C++ and CSU Global System Analysis & Design are required courses.
As mentioned, if you can find Data Structures/Linear Algebra at a community college near you, do so.
Before we make recommendations, it may be best to tell us what 4 courses were completed (shows CS 12/36).
Did you do the required Calculus I & II courses? If not, do them at Straighterline.

Oh, also Discrete Math is probably LL no matter where you take it. The final 3 credits of UL seem difficult to find unless you use Linear Algebra to meet them.
