TESU Humanities Concentration
#1
For a Humanities concentration in a BALS at TESU, would the following work in the AOS? Upper level- 2 English courses, 2 Communication courses, one history course. Lower level-3 psychology courses, one science, and one English course. Thanks for your help.

I don't think History counts as a humanity, which means you would only have 15 credits of humanities (whereas 18 is required for a concentration). If my understanding is correct, you'll want to sub in a humanities course for either the history course, the science course, or one of the psychology courses.

Can't use History, Psych, or Science in the Humanities area. I would just do a regular BALS (that's what you have here).

Mousebouncer: Please copy/paste your academic evaluation.  If you have one more lower level humanities courses, you are all set for the Humanities concentration.   Essentially, for any BALS concentration, you need 18 credits, half needs to be UL, the other half can be LL.  You will need at least 2 more UL from other Arts/Science concentrations to complete the 18 UL credits required for the AOS (the capstone will count towards this).

It is best to list your courses so we know what's taken.  Anyways...the following Required:
3 UL Humanities courses - complete (2 UL English, 1 UL Comm)
3 LL or UL Humanities courses - You have 2 of the 3 (1 UL Comm, 1 LL Eng)
You just need one more Humanities course, if you show us what courses you took, we may be able to "tweak" it.

Texastink did her BALS Humanities with 3 UL/3 LL Humanities and 2 UL/2 LL courses in liberal arts.

So for a concentration, you need 18 total Humanities credits, at least 9 of which must be UL. The rest of your AOS can be whatever Liberal Arts courses you want.

For your UL, you have 12 Humanities credits so you’re good there. For your LL, you only have 3 credits so you’re coming up one class short. Switch out one of any of those other LL ones for another Humanities class and you’ll be fine.

Thank you all! I do have one class left before the Capstone and Cornerstone. So maybe just take a LL Humanities. Come to think of it... I need to check what is in the electives. Maybe there is a LL Humanities floating around.? It really doesn’t matter much to me to have a concentration, just thought if it was already done, no problem. Thanks again, super helpful, as usual.
