Thanks. I'm not sure if that is the same thing either, but it is helpful. I believe there should be a PDF syllabus that is matched specifically to the version of the course (GS vs OL, and possibly the semester). At least I found a PDF syllabus from last year for BUS-421-GS which has a course calendar that includes which readings and assignments were due and reviews each of the modules and case studies relevant to that. It's for the guided study version of the course, so I know it is a bit different than the online version but it's been helpful to get an idea of what will be expected.

Of course, if anyone is taking the BUS-421-OL course now (or finished it recently) and wants to send me the current syllabus, and any example papers, notes, or tips that would be helpful for someone planning to take the course soon, I'd welcome it. Smile

I'm not a hugely confident academic writer, so this course appears a bit overwhelming to me so far.

I just registered for the Capstone (R.I.P. wallet) and I also cosign this lol. Since High School, writing has always been a daunting task for me and any tips would VERY appreciated.

For anyone else taking the Nov Capstone, i wish you all the best! *resists urge to quote The Hunger Games*

So I'm about two weeks out from the start of my capstone so I figured I'd go ahead and get the textbook rental stuff out of the way. I was planning to use Amazon, but apparently, they only rent textbooks based on semesters. So if I rent it from them today, its due in mid-December. Considering my course runs until the end of January, that isn't going to work. The other option is to rent for two semesters, which would give me to March, but that's overkill and twice the price. Even if I wait until the beginning of November, there doesn't seem to be a "90 days from today" option. I'd end up paying the full rental fee and end up with the book for 45 days since its still due mid-December.

Looks like I'll have to rent it elsewhere. Luckily there are plenty of other options, but no free two-day shipping. Too bad Campus Book Rentals doesn't offer free shipping anymore. Not sure when that ended but it doesn't show on their site now and the checkout asks for shipping fees based on speed.

That's strange that they only do semesters, and not quarters.  Some of the books have a 15-day extension, but that only gets you to early January.  Do you need the book for the entire time?  Like, with the business capstone, I think there was a point at which I was done with the book, and was just doing the final paper.

As far as I know, TESU's business capstone course (BUS-421 Strategic Management) is the same for every AOS, so I would imagine you would know better than I, given you've taken the course already. I've been assuming I'll need the book for the entire course, which would be until like January 24th or something like that.

I didn't see a 15-day extension on Amazon, but even if they did, that would still get me to the end of December or first few days in January. I checked Barnes & Noble's textbook rental service and it seems almost identical to Amazon's, except more expensive and no free 2-day shipping. Both are tied to fixed semesters. Which is odd since I'm sure they must realize that quarter systems don't align the same, and other schools have their own systems. Maybe they just assume anyone who needs it longer will just pay for two semesters?

I'm probably going to just rent mine via Campus Books. It'll be a bit more expensive than a semester at Amazon, but since I can't really do that, this is the next best option. Plus I can set my own return date. I was planning to keep it through the last day of the course, but if it turns out I only need the book for part of that time, I could reign that in and save myself a few bucks.

So after looking into it, it appears that the BUS-421 capstone has 12 chapters of required readings. They are scheduled through the end of the course, and the final case study assignment is due in week 11 (it says week 12, but I think its supposed to be week 11). Obviously, this is subject to the actual schedule since I'm just going off the generic schedule.

Given that, if I can work ahead on the case studies, I may be done with the book early. Depending on how challenging the case studies are, it may be doable. I'm not sure. Are they just answering questions or is it a proper paper? From what I can find online it looks like there are 4-5 questions that need answering, but I don't know if those are basically short answer style or if they need to be woven like topics in a research paper?

Perhaps if I can find (or someone would like to offer) an example of how someone else answered the questions in a previous case study assignment, that might be helpful.

In the meantime, I'm going to assume I need to keep the book through at least week 11.

Woven together.  They are actual papers based on the case studies - that cover the topics asked in the questions.  Not a Q&A format.
