TESU to WGU
#1
I was researching a MS program and I like to look into WGU'S Master of Science, Information Technology Management (MSITM). I completed two BABS's from TESU (CIS & GM). About 70 percent of my classes were from alternative sources (SDC, SL). Does anyone know if my degrees will be accepted to enter into a masters program. I also have a CCNP, MCSA and several Comptia certs, Lean Six Green Belt, Itil and VMware Associate and I have been working as a Network Engineer for 2 years...Money is no issue; employer assistance is available.

Just curious, but where did you do your Lean Six Sigma Geen Belt?

No assessments. For the MSITM, you just need to possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution and demonstrate your IT program readiness in one of the following ways:

Submit transcripts documenting completion of previous IT coursework (must be 300 level or higher);
or demonstrate at least two years of IT work experience through resume review (they'll ask you to include a copy of your resume for this);
or submit official records of completion of current and active IT certifications.

FYI, some certifications provide transfer credit into bachelor's degree programs, but none of them will provide any credit or waive any courses for a master's degree.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23

Complete:
MBA (IT Management), 2019, Western Governors University
BSBA (Computer Information Systems), 2019, Thomas Edison State University
ASNSM (Computer Science), 2019, Thomas Edison State University

According to the WGU transfer certs page they accept a few IT certs for masters programs like CAPM, PMP, CEH and CISSP.

Thanks

I'm actually contemplating on going for the CAPM right now. If I come in with this cert., will it waive a class?

I believe so, but don't quote me on that. You'd have to confirm with WGU admissions.

If you're going with the MS IT Management, it actually comes with the CAPM: "Included in your program—at no extra cost—is the opportunity to earn the valuable PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification."

So you could start studying for it and when you're enrolled in the program at WGU, you'd have a head start on your studies.

It sounds like a winner. But if I can do the CAPM prior and fulfill a required course, I'll rather go this route.

WGU doesn't accept transfer credit in their master's programs.
