Tax Advice
#1
Try calculating your refund or amount due using the education credits and the tuition deduction. I've always chosen one of the credits in the past because they were larger than the tuition deduction. However, I was in a higher tax bracket last year and, even though the tuition deduction looked paltry, it ended up putting me in a lower tax bracket and increasing my refund by over $200. I also get to report a lower AGI on my FAFSA.
