Hello all!
I'm studying for the Tech Writing test and was wondering if there are any free practice tests out there. I studied "Technical Writing 101" by Alan S. Pringle and have the DSST factsheet, but I don't want to base my readiness on a 12 question test. I didn't see any helps on IC.
If you have taken the test, do you know where I can test my knowledge and what materials did you use to study?
Thanks!

Not free, but you can take a $5.00 practice test at this site:
Prometric Online Testing - Error
Note that if you already have a 'real' account with DSST from taking other DSST tests, you'll have to create a new, different account and select 'DSST Practice Test' for the type of test you want to take. A limited number of DSST Practice tests are available on that site, and Tech Writing is one of them.
Since I already had a lot of work experience with Tech Writing, I didn't really study at all, just took the practice test the day before. I found the practice test to be very similar to the real one, so felt it was worth the $5 for the piece of mind it gave me before taking the real test.

Your library should have it. Skim over the topics and study anything you are not familiar with. Know the different parts of a proposal, about abstracts, summaries, things like that. I thought grammer was a large part of the exam too, correcting sentences, rearranging, that sort of thing.
Good Luck

This test was pretty easy. I checked out a Technical Writing book for a few days from the library. Worked great! A much easier test than English Comp in my opinion.
