Tesc: Proctored Exams
#1
Hi everyone....I'm taking my first classes at TESC starting January 1st. The whole experience is totally new. Taking Physics, Gerontology, and Earth Science (also 2 CLEPs next week for Natural Science and English Comp/essay).

Where do you go to find a proctor suitable for the midterms/final exam? Do I just walk into a library (if i can find one these days lol) and ask the librarian? Do I have to pay someone to do this? Essentially, what is the entire process, how, when, what, where? lol

Thanks!!! cheersmate

I have not taken a proctored exam through TESC so can't say from experience. However, I did find this by searching this forum. Maybe this might be an option for you-- http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...ctoru.html.

Thanks for the input. yeah I saw that as well. My final exam is online and via webcam if I choose to do so, but midterms are still paper/pen and proctored by a human, unfortunately. cheersmate

I use my local library and they charge $25 per exam. Some are not charged by their libraries. You can also look into your local colleges. I'm in NJ and I use Brookdale Community College for CLEP/DSST exams, they also serve as proctors for midterm and finals. Their proctor fee is $30 for the exams I dont know the fee for midterm/finals. if you are close to TESC you can use them as your proctor and there is no charge.

Each library/school/testing center has different pricing for the administrative fee, available hours, appt scheduling etc so you would have to contact those local to your home or office direct.

The proctor form is available within the course materials. Once you decide upon a proctor they only need to fill out the form once. After that your fill it out each time for each course both midterm and or final. You need to check your course syllabus for each course as finals are usually either completed online or by a graded project/paper. Epack course are one comprehensive final that is proctored. As Creative said, TESC now offers proctorU for some courses midterm and final and it is also a free service. You will have to research how to make an appt on the TESC site.

BTW, when you login to blackboard there is a community tab that takes you to two boards, a general student discussion board where you can ask these types of questions and a textbook board where students sell/buy textbooks from each other.

Good luck in your studies!

I have taken three proctored midterms from TESC in two separate states. The process has been painless in all cases. You go into any public depository (Library) and ask to speak to the head librarian. Explain yourself and your needs and they should accommodate you without a fee or issue.

Make sure you go to the library early in your course (1st week, 2nd at latest). If for some reason they cannot help you, go find the next library. You fill out the forms, give them to the librarian to fill out and sign and then you fax the completed forms to TESC. You should recieve email conf. shortly that your forms have been received and your request processed. Go back to library in a week or two and see if they have received the forms from TESC.
Arrange date - study like mad - take the test.
