The Cheapest CC I have found...up to 6 credits.

I would check Clovis in New Mexico and new mexico junior college before signing up with Luna. Any are fine but compare total cost on all three vs your local CC before deciding. Luna no longer offers the out of state discount, that was the only bug attraction.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I have found the Degree Fourum so helpful and rewarding this past week that I hope to give a little back to the forum with some inexpensive online community college options I've tried that worked well.

I have a couple community college suggestions for this thread in addition to Luna. I have personally taken online classes at both of these schools. One school may be a better financial option depending on the cost of books. CNMCC is less expensive but you have to supply your own books. AllenCC is a bit more expensive but they provide inexpensive book rental for most classes.

Central New Mexico Community College, New Mexico
2012-2013 Tuition
$48.25 per credit hour + Fees (Max of 6credits/semester)
There is also a $40 registration fee each semester and a $3/credit tech fee. If you just take a single 3 credit hour class then the total cost will be $193.75. ($64.58/credit hour)
2012-2013 Tuition

Allen Community College, Allen County, Kansas
2012-2013 Tuition
$82 per credit hour + Fees
Everyone gets in-state tuition - No limit
I found out about Allen when I was looking at attending FHSU because they had established transfer guides. The cost per credit hour is $82 with fees included. The awesome thing about Allen is that the fees also includes book rental! You have to pay a few bucks for shipping each way but thats it! If you just take a single 3 credit hour class then the cost will be $309. ($103/credit hour with books)

seems like NMJC raised their tuition, I checked the prices for 12 credits in order to use the Pell grant and the final cost is s $1,128 with fees included. It all comes out to about $94.00 per credit.

Luna CC is still advertising $ 35.00 a credit hour, up to 6 hours, even for out-of-state students.

I know this is an old thread, but was wondering what the prevalent opinion is currently re: inexpensive online credits?

The New Mexico CC's are still a pretty good deal. My wife knocked out a few nursing pre reqs at NMJC last year, cost was a big factor. The last few posts on this thread are recent.

The university of Idaho independent studies courses are about $110/credit. They are always an option.

When the cost of credits from a two-year source get close to the cost of those from a four-year source, I would prefer a four-year source. Though it isn't a big deal at the big three, I have noticed a bias toward the four-year credits at some schools.

Thank you both. That is helpful!

I just double checked all my old-standbys for NM and it's true, Luna is the current winner. NMJC is sitting in the 60's per credit, Clovis up over $89- I'm shocked at their increase. I think the want to discourage oos attendance. Luna is still $35 for up to 6cr as of today for fall registration.
